A psalm. A sabbath song.1 A psalm of a canticle on the sabbath day.
It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praise to your name, Most High,2 It is good to give praise to the Lord: and to sing to thy name, O most High.
To proclaim your love in the morning, your faithfulness in the night,3 To shew forth thy mercy in the morning, and thy truth in the night:
With the ten-stringed harp, with melody upon the lyre.4 Upon an instrument of ten strings, upon the psaltery: with a canticle upon the harp.
For you make me jubilant, LORD, by your deeds; at the works of your hands I shout for joy.5 For thou hast given me, O Lord, a delight in thy doings: and in the works of thy hands I shall rejoice.
How great are your works, LORD! How profound your purpose!6 O Lord, how great are thy works! thy thoughts are exceeding deep.
A senseless person cannot know this; a fool cannot comprehend.7 The senseless man shall not know: nor will the fool understand these things.
Though the wicked flourish like grass and all sinners thrive, They are destined for eternal destruction;8 When the wicked shall spring up as grass: and all the workers of iniquity shall appear: That they may perish for ever and ever:
for you, LORD, are forever on high.9 but thou, O Lord, art most high for evermore.
Indeed your enemies, LORD, indeed your enemies shall perish; all sinners shall be scattered.10 For behold thy enemies, O Lord, for behold thy enemies shall perish: and all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
You have given me the strength of a wild bull; you have poured rich oil upon me.11 But my horn shall be exalted like that of the unicorn: and my old age in plentiful mercy.
My eyes look with glee on my wicked enemies; my ears delight in the fall of my foes.12 My eye also hath looked down upon my enemies: and my ear shall hear of the downfall of the malignant that rise up against me.
The just shall flourish like the palm tree, shall grow like a cedar of Lebanon.13 The just shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow up like the cedar of Libanus.
Planted in the house of the LORD, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.14 They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of the house of our God.
They shall bear fruit even in old age, always vigorous and sturdy,15 They shall still increase in a fruitful old age: and shall be well treated,
As they proclaim: "The LORD is just; our rock, in whom there is no wrong."16 that they may shew, That the Lord our God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in him.
