1 A prayer of David. Hear me, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and oppressed.	1 Ein Gebet Davids.Neige, o HERR, dein Ohr, erhöre mich,denn elend bin ich und arm!
2 Preserve my life, for I am loyal; save your servant who trusts in you.	2 Bewahre meine Seele, denn ich bin fromm;hilf du, mein Gott, deinem Knecht, der auf dich vertraut!
3 You are my God; pity me, Lord; to you I call all the day.	3 Sei mir gnädig, o Allherr,denn zu dir rufe ich allezeit.
4 Gladden the soul of your servant; to you, Lord, I lift up my soul.	4 Erfreue das Herz deines Knechtes,denn zu dir, o Allherr, erheb’ ich meine Seele.
5 Lord, you are kind and forgiving, most loving to all who call on you.	5 Denn du, o Allherr, bist gütig und bereit zum Verzeihen,bist reich an Gnade für alle, die dich anrufen.
6 LORD, hear my prayer; listen to my cry for help.	6 Vernimm, o HERR, mein Gebetund merke auf mein lautes Flehen!
7 In this time of trouble I call, for you will answer me.	7 Bin ich in Not, so ruf’ ich zu dir,denn du erhörst mich.
8 None among the gods can equal you, O Lord; nor can their deeds compare to yours.	8 Keiner kommt dir gleich unter den Göttern, o Allherr,und nichts ist deinen Werken vergleichbar.
9 All the nations you have made shall come to bow before you, Lord, and give honor to your name.	9 Alle Völker, die du geschaffen,werden kommen und vor dir anbeten,o Allherr, und deinen Namen ehren;
10 For you are great and do wondrous deeds; and you alone are God.	10 denn du bist groß, und Wunder tust du:ja du, nur du bist Gott.
11 Teach me, LORD, your way that I may walk in your truth, single-hearted and revering your name.	11 Lehre mich, HERR, deinen Weg,daß ich ihn wandle in deiner Wahrheit (oder: in Treue gegen dich);richte mein Herz auf das Eine,daß es deinen Namen fürchte!
12 I will praise you with all my heart, glorify your name forever, Lord my God.	12 Preisen will ich dich, Allherr, mein Gott, von ganzem Herzenund deinen Namen ewiglich ehren;
13 Your love for me is great; you have rescued me from the depths of Sheol.	13 denn deine Gnade ist groß gegen mich gewesen:du hast meine Seele (oder: mein Leben) errettet aus der Tiefe des Totenreichs.
14 O God, the arrogant have risen against me; a ruthless band has sought my life; to you they pay no heed.	14 O Gott! Vermessene haben sich gegen mich erhoben,eine Rotte von Schreckensmännern steht mir nach dem Leben;sie haben dich nicht vor Augen.
15 But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, most loving and true.	15 Doch du, o Allherr, bist ein Gott voll Erbarmen und Gnade,langmütig und reich an Gnade und Treue.
16 Turn to me, have pity on me; give your strength to your servant; save this child of your handmaid.	16 Wende dich zu mir und sei mir gnädig;verleih deine Kraft deinem Knechtund hilf dem Sohne deiner Magd!
17 Give me a sign of your favor: make my enemies see, to their confusion, that you, LORD, help and comfort me.	17 Tu ein Zeichen an mir zum Guten,daß meine Feinde es sehn und sich schämen müssen,weil du, o HERR, mein Helfer und Tröster gewesen!
