1 For the leader. A psalm of David.	1 Salmo di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici O DIO, ascolta la mia voce, mentre io fo la mia orazione; Guarda la vita mia dallo spavento del nemico.
2 O God, hear my anguished voice; from the foes I dread protect my life.	2 Nascondimi dal consiglio de’ maligni, E dalla turba degli operatori d’iniquità;
3 Hide me from the malicious crowd, the mob of evildoers.	3 I quali hanno aguzzata la lor lingua come una spada; E in luogo di saette, hanno tratte parole amare;
4 They sharpen their tongues like swords, ready their bows for arrows of poison words.	4 Per saettar l’uomo intiero in luoghi nascosti; Di subito improvviso lo saettano, e non hanno timore alcuno.
5 They shoot at the innocent from ambush, shoot without risk, catch them unawares.	5 Fermano fra loro pensieri malvagi; Divisano di tender di nascosto lacci, Dicono: Chi li vedrà?
6 They resolve on their wicked plan; they conspire to set snares; they say: "Who will see us?"	6 Investigano malizie; ricercano tutto ciò che si può investigare; E quanto può l’interior dell’uomo, ed un cuor cupo
7 They devise wicked schemes, conceal the schemes they devise; the designs of their hearts are hidden.	7 Ma Iddio li saetterà; Le lor ferite saranno come di saetta subitanea.
8 But God will shoot arrows at them and strike them unawares.	8 E le lor lingue saranno traboccate sopra loro; Chiunque li vedrà fuggirà.
9 They will be brought down by their own tongues; all who see them will shake their heads.	9 E tutti gli uomini temeranno, E racconteranno l’opera di Dio; E considereranno quello ch’egli avrà fatto.
10 Then all will fear and proclaim God's deed, pondering what has been done.	10 Il giusto si rallegrerà nel Signore, e spererà in lui; E tutti quelli che son diritti di cuore, si glorieranno
11 The just will rejoice and take refuge in the LORD; all the upright will glory in their God.
