Psalms 63

1 A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.	1 Salmo di David. Esaudisci, o Dio, l'orazione mia, mentre ti invoco: dal timore dell'inimico custodisci l'anima mia.
2 O God, you are my God-- for you I long! For you my body yearns; for you my soul thirsts, Like a land parched, lifeless, and without water.	2 Tu m'hai difeso dalla cospirazione de' maligni: dalla turba di gente data a mal fare.
3 So I look to you in the sanctuary to see your power and glory.	3 Perocché affilarono come spade le loro lingue, tesero il loro arco (amara cosa) per saettare al buio l'innocente.
4 For your love is better than life; my lips offer you worship!	4 Lo saetteranno all'improvviso, e non temeranno: si sono ostinati nello scellerato disegno.
5 I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands, calling on your name.	5 Preser consiglio di nascondere i loro lacci, e dissero: Chi gli scoprirà?
6 My soul shall savor the rich banquet of praise, with joyous lips my mouth shall honor you!	6 Studiarono invenzioni per fare del male: gli indagatori venner meno nell'indagare.
7 When I think of you upon my bed, through the night watches I will recall	7 Si alzerà l'uomo a grandi disegni: ma Dio sarà esaltato.
8 That you indeed are my help, and in the shadow of your wings I shout for joy.	8 Le ferite, ch'ei fanno son ferite di frecce lanciate da fanciullini; e senza forza son rimaste le loro lingue per loro danno.
9 My soul clings fast to you; your right hand upholds me.	9 Si sbigottirono tutti quei che li videro, e ogni uomo si intimorì. E annunziarono le opere di Dio, e me ditarono sopra le cose fatte da lui.
10 But those who seek my life will come to ruin; they shall go down to the depths of the earth!	10 Il giusto si allegrerà nel Signore, e in lui spererà, e lode avranno tutti gli uomini di cuore retto.
11 They shall be handed over to the sword and become the prey of jackals!
12 But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by the Lord shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut!
