Psalms 63

1 A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.	1 Salmo. Di Davide, quando era nel deserto di Giuda.
2 O God, you are my God-- for you I long! For you my body yearns; for you my soul thirsts, Like a land parched, lifeless, and without water.	2 O Dio, tu sei il mio Dio,dall’aurora io ti cerco,ha sete di te l'anima mia,desidera te la mia carnein terra arida, assetata, senz’acqua.
3 So I look to you in the sanctuary to see your power and glory.	3 Così nel santuario ti ho contemplato,guardando la tua potenza e la tua gloria.
4 For your love is better than life; my lips offer you worship!	4 Poiché il tuo amore vale più della vita,le mie labbra canteranno la tua lode.
5 I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands, calling on your name.	5 Così ti benedirò per tutta la vita:nel tuo nome alzerò le mie mani.
6 My soul shall savor the rich banquet of praise, with joyous lips my mouth shall honor you!	6 Come saziato dai cibi migliori,con labbra gioiose ti loderà la mia bocca.
7 When I think of you upon my bed, through the night watches I will recall	7 Quando nel mio letto di te mi ricordoe penso a te nelle veglie notturne,
8 That you indeed are my help, and in the shadow of your wings I shout for joy.	8 a te che sei stato il mio aiuto,esulto di gioia all’ombra delle tue ali.
9 My soul clings fast to you; your right hand upholds me.	9 A te si stringe l’anima mia:la tua destra mi sostiene.
10 But those who seek my life will come to ruin; they shall go down to the depths of the earth!	10 Ma quelli che cercano di rovinarmisprofondino sotto terra,
11 They shall be handed over to the sword and become the prey of jackals!	11 siano consegnati in mano alla spada,divengano preda di sciacalli.
12 But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by the Lord shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut!	12 Il re troverà in Dio la sua gioia;si glorierà chi giura per lui,perché ai mentitori verrà chiusa la bocca.
