Psalms 63

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.	1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2 O God, you are my God-- for you I long! For you my body yearns; for you my soul thirsts, Like a land parched, lifeless, and without water.	2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
3 So I look to you in the sanctuary to see your power and glory.	3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
4 For your love is better than life; my lips offer you worship!	4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
5 I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands, calling on your name.	5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
6 My soul shall savor the rich banquet of praise, with joyous lips my mouth shall honor you!	6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
7 When I think of you upon my bed, through the night watches I will recall	7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
8 That you indeed are my help, and in the shadow of your wings I shout for joy.	8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
9 My soul clings fast to you; your right hand upholds me.	9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
10 But those who seek my life will come to ruin; they shall go down to the depths of the earth!	10 They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
11 They shall be handed over to the sword and become the prey of jackals!	11 But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
12 But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by the Lord shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut!
