¹ For the leader; with stringed instruments, "upon the eighth." A psalm of David.	¹ [For the choirmaster For strings For the octachord Psalm Of David] Yahweh, let your rebuke to me notbe in anger, your punishment not in the heat of wrath.
² Do not reprove me in your anger, LORD, nor punish me in your wrath.	² Have pity on me, Yahweh, for I am fading away. Heal me, Yahweh, my bones are shaken,
³ Have pity on me, LORD, for I am weak; heal me, LORD, for my bones are trembling.	³ my spirit is shaken to its very depths. But you, Yahweh . . . how long?
⁴ In utter terror is my soul-- and you, LORD, how long...?	⁴ Yahweh, relent and save my life rescue me because of your faithful love,
⁵ Turn, LORD, save my life; in your mercy rescue me.	⁵ for in death there is no remembrance of you; who could sing your praises in Sheol?
⁶ For who among the dead remembers you? Who praises you in Sheol?	⁶ I am worn out with groaning, every night I drench my pil ow and soak my bed with tears.
⁷ I am wearied with sighing; all night long tears drench my bed; my couch is soaked with weeping.	⁷ My eyes waste away with vexation. Arrogance from al my foes!
⁸ My eyes are dimmed with sorrow, worn out because of all my foes.	⁸ Away from me, al evil-doers! For Yahweh has heard the sound of my weeping,
⁹ Away from me, all who do evil! The LORD has heard my weeping.	⁹ Yahweh has heard my pleading. Yahweh wil accept my prayer.
¹⁰ The LORD has heard my prayer; the LORD takes up my plea.	¹⁰ Let al my enemies be put to confusion, shaken to their depths, let them retreat in sudden confusion.
¹¹ My foes will be terrified and disgraced; all will fall back in sudden shame.
