NEW AMERICAN BIBLEKING JAMES BIBLE
For the leader; with stringed instruments, "upon the eighth." A psalm of David.1 O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
Do not reprove me in your anger, LORD, nor punish me in your wrath.2 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
Have pity on me, LORD, for I am weak; heal me, LORD, for my bones are trembling.3 My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long?
In utter terror is my soul-- and you, LORD, how long...?4 Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake.
Turn, LORD, save my life; in your mercy rescue me.5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?
For who among the dead remembers you? Who praises you in Sheol?6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
I am wearied with sighing; all night long tears drench my bed; my couch is soaked with weeping.7 Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
My eyes are dimmed with sorrow, worn out because of all my foes.8 Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.
Away from me, all who do evil! The LORD has heard my weeping.9 The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.
The LORD has heard my prayer; the LORD takes up my plea.10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
My foes will be terrified and disgraced; all will fall back in sudden shame.
