For the leader; with wind instruments. A psalm of David. | 1 [For the choirmaster For flutes Psalm Of David] Give ear to my words, Yahweh, spare a thought for mysighing. |
Hear my words, O LORD; listen to my sighing. | 2 Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God! To you I pray, |
Hear my cry for help, my king, my God! To you I pray, O LORD; | 3 Yahweh. At daybreak you hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my case before you and fix my eyes on you. |
at dawn you will hear my cry; at dawn I will plead before you and wait. | 4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil, no sinner can be your guest. |
You are not a god who delights in evil; no wicked person finds refuge with you; | 5 Boasters cannot stand their ground under your gaze. You hate evil-doers, |
the arrogant cannot stand before you. You hate all who do evil; | 6 liars you destroy; the violent and deceitful Yahweh detests. |
you destroy all who speak falsely. Murderers and deceivers the LORD abhors. | 7 But, so great is your faithful love, I may come into your house, and before your holy temple bow down inreverence of you. |
But I can enter your house because of your great love. I can worship in your holy temple because of my reverence for you, LORD. | 8 In your saving justice, Yahweh, lead me, because of those who lie in wait for me; make your way plainbefore me. |
Guide me in your justice because of my foes; make straight your way before me. | 9 Not a word from their lips can be trusted, through and through they are destruction, their throats arewide -- open graves, their tongues seductive. |
For there is no sincerity in their mouths; their hearts are corrupt. Their throats are open graves; on their tongues are subtle lies. | 10 Lay the guilt on them, God, make their intrigues their own downfal ; for their countless offences, thrustthem from you, since they have rebel ed against you. |
Declare them guilty, God; make them fall by their own devices. Drive them out for their many sins; they have rebelled against you. | 11 But joy for al who take refuge in you, endless songs of gladness! You shelter them, they rejoice inyou, those who love your name. |
Then all who take refuge in you will be glad and forever shout for joy. Protect them that you may be the joy of those who love your name. | 12 It is you who bless the upright, Yahweh, you surround them with favour as with a shield. |
For you, LORD, bless the just; you surround them with favor like a shield. |
