Psalms 35

1 Of David. Oppose, LORD, those who oppose me; war upon those who make war upon me.	1 Di Davide. Scendi in giudizio, o Signore, contro quelli che mi accusano; combatti contro quelli che mi avversano.
2 Take up the shield and buckler; rise up in my defense.	2 Impugna lo scudo e la corazza e sorgi in mia difesa.
3 Brandish lance and battle-ax against my pursuers. Say to my heart, "I am your salvation."	3 Brandisci la lancia e sbarra il passo di fronte a quelli che m'inseguono. Di' all'anima mia: "Sono io la tua salvezza!".
4 Let those who seek my life be put to shame and disgrace. Let those who plot evil against me be turned back and confounded.	4 Restino confusi e coperti di vergogna quelli che cercano l'anima mia; indietreggino disfatti quanti tramano la mia rovina.
5 Make them like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them on.	5 Siano come pula davanti al vento, scacciati dall'angelo del Signore.
6 Make their way slippery and dark, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.	6 Tenebrosa e scivolosa sia la loro via, incalzati dall'angelo del Signore.
7 Without cause they set their snare for me; without cause they dug a pit for me.	7 Poiché senza motivo la loro rete hanno teso per me, senza motivo la fossa hanno scavato per l'anima mia.
8 Let ruin overtake them unawares; let the snare they have set catch them; let them fall into the pit they have dug.	8 Rovina inattesa lo colga, la rete che egli ha teso lo prenda, cada in essa con rovina.
9 Then I will rejoice in the LORD, exult in God's salvation.	9 Ma l'anima mia esulterà nel Signore, giubilerà della sua salvezza.
10 My very bones shall say, "O LORD, who is like you, Who rescue the afflicted from the powerful, the afflicted and needy from the despoiler?"	10 Tutte le mie ossa diranno: "Chi è come te, o Signore, che liberi il misero da chi è più forte di lui, e il povero da colui che lo rapina?".
11 Malicious witnesses come forward, accuse me of things I do not know.	11 Stanno sorgendo testimoni di nequizia, mi chiedono conto di ciò che ignoro;
12 They repay me evil for good and I am all alone.	12 mi ripagano con il male in luogo del bene. Desolazione per l'anima mia!
13 Yet I, when they were ill, put on sackcloth, afflicted myself with fasting, sobbed my prayers upon my bosom.	13 Io, invece, nella loro infermità mi vestivo di sacco, affliggevo nel digiuno l'anima mia, echeggiava nel mio seno la mia preghiera
14 I went about in grief as for my brother, bent in mourning as for my mother.	14 come per un compagno, come per un fratello. Sono andato in giro come chi è in lutto per la propria madre, triste, a capo chino.
15 Yet when I stumbled they gathered with glee, gathered against me like strangers. They slandered me without ceasing;	15 Ma al mio vacillare hanno gioito e si son radunati, contro di me si son radunati; stranieri che non conoscevo hanno fatto scempio di me senza sosta.
16 without respect they mocked me, gnashed their teeth against me.	16 Mi tentano, mi deridono, digrignando contro di me i loro denti.
17 Lord, how long will you look on? Save me from roaring beasts, my precious life from lions!	17 Fino a quando, o Signore, rimarrai a guardare? Strappa la mia anima da belve ruggenti, da leoncelli me desolato.
18 Then I will thank you in the great assembly; I will praise you before the mighty throng.	18 Ti celebrerò nella grande assemblea, e ti loderò fra popolo numeroso.
19 Do not let lying foes smirk at me, my undeserved enemies wink knowingly.	19 Non si rallegrino su di me i miei nemici menzogneri e non strizzino l'occhio quanti mi odiano senza ragione.
20 They speak no words of peace, but against the quiet in the land they fashion deceitful speech.	20 Sì, essi non parlano di pace e contro i pacifici della terra piani di perfidia essi stanno tramando;
21 They open wide their mouths against me. They say, "Aha! Good! Our eyes relish the sight!"	21 spalancano contro di me la loro bocca e dicono: "Ah, ah! Ha visto il nostro occhio".
22 You see this, LORD; do not be silent; Lord, do not withdraw from me.	22 Tu hai visto, o Signore, non restartene muto; o Signore, non rimanere lontano da me.
23 Awake, be vigilant in my defense, in my cause, my God and my Lord.	23 Déstati, mio Dio, per il mio giudizio; sorgi, o Signore, per la mia causa.
24 Defend me because you are just, LORD; my God, do not let them gloat over me.	24 Giudicami secondo la mia giustizia, o Signore mio Dio. Non si rallegrino su di me.
25 Do not let them say in their hearts, "Aha! Just what we wanted!" Do not let them say, "We have devoured that one!"	25 Non dicano nei loro cuori: "E' questa la nostra brama!". Non dicano: "L'abbiamo sopraffatto!".
26 Put to shame and confound all who relish my misfortune. Clothe with shame and disgrace those who lord it over me.	26 Siano confusi tutti insieme e coperti di vergogna quanti s'allietano del mio male; di rossore si vestano e d'ignominia quanti su di me s'insuperbiscono.
27 But let those who favor my just cause shout for joy and be glad. May they ever say, "Exalted be the LORD who delights in the peace of his loyal servant."	27 Giubilino e si rallegrino invece quelli che amano la mia giustizia; possano dire sempre: "Sia magnificato il Signore che si prende cura della pace del suo servo!".
28 Then my tongue shall recount your justice, declare your praise, all the day long.	28 La mia lingua proclamerà la tua giustizia, tutto il giorno la tua lode.
