Psalms 35

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Of David. Oppose, LORD, those who oppose me; war upon those who make war upon me.	1 De David. Combate, Señor, a los que me atacan, pelea contra los que me hacen la guerra.
2 Take up the shield and buckler; rise up in my defense.	2 Toma el escudo y el broquel, levántate y ven en mi ayuda;
3 Brandish lance and battle-ax against my pursuers. Say to my heart, "I am your salvation."	3 empuña la lanza y la jabalina para enfrentar a mis perseguidores; dime: «Yo soy tu salvación».
4 Let those who seek my life be put to shame and disgrace. Let those who plot evil against me be turned back and confounded.	4 Que sufran una derrota humillante los que intentan quitarme la vida; que vuelvan la espalda confundidos los que traman mi perdición.
5 Make them like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them on.	5 Que sean como la paja ante el viento, mientras el Angel del Señor los arrastra;
6 Make their way slippery and dark, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.	6 que su camino sea oscuro y resbaladizo, mientras el Angel del Señor los persigue.
7 Without cause they set their snare for me; without cause they dug a pit for me.	7 Porque me tendieron sus redes sin motivo y me cavaron una fosa mortal:
8 Let ruin overtake them unawares; let the snare they have set catch them; let them fall into the pit they have dug.	8 ¡que los sorprenda un desastre imprevisto; que sean atrapados por sus propias redes, y caigan en la fosa que ellos mismos cavaron!
9 Then I will rejoice in the LORD, exult in God's salvation.	9 Pero yo me alegraré en el Señor, me regocijaré por su victoria;
10 My very bones shall say, "O LORD, who is like you, Who rescue the afflicted from the powerful, the afflicted and needy from the despoiler?"	10 todo mi ser proclamará: «Señor, no hay nadie igual a ti; tú libras al débil de las manos del más fuerte, y al pobre, de aquel que lo despoja».
11 Malicious witnesses come forward, accuse me of things I do not know.	11 Se presentan contra mí testigos falsos; me piden cuenta de cosas que ignoro;
12 They repay me evil for good and I am all alone.	12 me devuelven mal por bien, dejando mi alma desolada.
13 Yet I, when they were ill, put on sackcloth, afflicted myself with fasting, sobbed my prayers upon my bosom.	13 Yo, en cambio, cuando ellos estaban enfermos, me cubría con ropas de penitente, afligía mi alma con ayunos y oraba con la cabeza inclinada.
14 I went about in grief as for my brother, bent in mourning as for my mother.	14 Ellos eran para mí como un amigo o un hermano, y yo andaba triste y abatido, como quien llora la muerte de su madre.
15 Yet when I stumbled they gathered with glee, gathered against me like strangers. They slandered me without ceasing;	15 Pero cuando tropecé ellos se alegraron, se juntaron todos contra mí y me golpearon sorpresivamente; me desgarraban sin cesar,
16 without respect they mocked me, gnashed their teeth against me.	16 se burlaban de mí con crueldad y rechinaban contra mí sus dientes.
17 Lord, how long will you look on? Save me from roaring beasts, my precious life from lions!	17 Señor, ¿cuánto tiempo vas a tolerarlo? Líbrame de los animales rugientes, salva mi vida de los leones;
18 Then I will thank you in the great assembly; I will praise you before the mighty throng.	18 y te daré gracias en la gran asamblea, te alabaré en medio de una multitud.
19 Do not let lying foes smirk at me, my undeserved enemies wink knowingly.	19 ¡Que no canten victoria mis enemigos traicioneros, ni se guiñen el ojo los que me odian sin motivo!
20 They speak no words of peace, but against the quiet in the land they fashion deceitful speech.	20 Ellos no hablan de paz, sino que atacan a los oprimidos de la tierra; traman planes engañosos
21 They open wide their mouths against me. They say, "Aha! Good! Our eyes relish the sight!"	21 y se ríen de mí a carcajadas, diciendo: «Lo hemos visto con nuestros propios ojos».
22 You see this, LORD; do not be silent; Lord, do not withdraw from me.	22 Tú también lo has visto, Señor, no te calles; no te quedes lejos de mí, Señor;
23 Awake, be vigilant in my defense, in my cause, my God and my Lord.	23 ¡despiértate, levántate, Dios mío, Señor mío, defiende mi causa!
24 Defend me because you are just, LORD; my God, do not let them gloat over me.	24 Júzgame según tu justicia, Señor; Dios mío, que no canten victoria sobre mí;
25 Do not let them say in their hearts, "Aha! Just what we wanted!" Do not let them say, "We have devoured that one!"	25 que no piensen: «Se cumplió nuestro deseo», ni digan: «Lo hemos devorado».
26 Put to shame and confound all who relish my misfortune. Clothe with shame and disgrace those who lord it over me.	26 Que sufran una derrota humillante los que se alegran de mi desgracia; que se cubran de confusión y de vergüenza los que se envalentonan contra mí.
27 But let those who favor my just cause shout for joy and be glad. May they ever say, "Exalted be the LORD who delights in the peace of his loyal servant."	27 Canten, en cambio, y alégrense, los que desean mi triunfo; los que desean mi felicidad, repitan siempre: «¡Qué grande es el Señor que en la paz de su siervo se complace!».
28 Then my tongue shall recount your justice, declare your praise, all the day long.	28 Entonces mi lengua pregonará tu justicia, y cada día proclamaré tu alabanza.
