1 Bildad the Shuhite spoke out and said:	1 Bildad de Suás tomou a palavra e disse:
2 How long will you utter such things? The words from your mouth are like a mighty wind!	2 Até quando dirás semelhantes coisas, e tuas palavras serão como um furacão?
3 Does God pervert judgment, and does the Almighty distort justice?	3 Porventura Deus fará curvar o que é reto? E o Todo-poderoso subverterá a justiça?
4 If your children have sinned against him and he has left them in the grip of their guilt,	4 Se teus filhos o ofenderam, ele os entregou às consequências de suas culpas.
5 Still, if you yourself have recourse to God and make supplication to the Almighty,	5 Se recorreres a Deus, e implorares ao Todo-poderoso,
6 Should you be blameless and upright, surely now he will awake for you and restore your rightful domain;	6 se fores puro e reto, ele atenderá a tua oração e restaurará a morada de tua justiça.
7 Your former state will be of little moment, for in time to come you will flourish indeed.	7 Teu começo parecerá pouca coisa diante da grandeza do que se seguirá.
8 If you inquire of the former generations, and give heed to the experience of the fathers	8 Interroga, pois, as gerações passadas e examina com cuidado a experiência dos antepassados.
9 (As we are but of yesterday and have no knowledge, because our days on earth are but a shadow),	9 Porque somos de ontem e nada sabemos, e nossos dias sobre a terra passam como a sombra.
10 Will they not teach you and tell you and utter their words of understanding?	10 Elas podem instruir-te, falar-te e de seu coração tirar estas palavras:
11 Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the reed grass flourish without water?	11 “Pode o papiro crescer fora do brejo ou o junco germinar sem água?
12 While it is yet green and uncut, it withers quicker than any grass.	12 Verde ainda, e sem ser colhido, ele seca antes de todas as ervas.
13 So is the end of everyone who forgets God, and so shall the hope of the godless man perish.	13 Assim acabam todos os que esquecem de Deus, pois a esperança do ímpio perecerá.
14 His confidence is but a gossamer thread and his trust is a spider's web.	14 A sua confiança será quebrada e a sua segurança é teia de aranha.
15 He shall rely upon his family, but it shall not last; he shall cling to it, but it shall not endure.	15 Ele se apoia sobre uma casa que não se sustenta, atém-se a uma morada que não se mantém de pé.
16 He is full of sap before sunrise, and beyond his garden his shoots go forth;	16 Cheio de vigor, ao sol, faz brotar seus ramos em seu jardim.
17 About a heap of stones are his roots entwined; among the rocks he takes hold.	17 Suas raízes se entrelaçam num montão de pedras e penetram entre as rochas.
18 Yet if one tears him from his place, it will disown him: "I have never seen you!"	18 Mas se é arrancado de seu lugar, este o renega e diz: ‘Não te conheço!’.
19 There he lies rotting beside the road, and out of the soil another sprouts.	19 Eis onde termina seu destino, e outros germinarão do solo”.
20 Behold, God will not cast away the upright; neither will he take the hand of the wicked.	20 De fato, Deus não rejeita o homem íntegro, nem dá a mão aos malvados.
21 Once more will he fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with rejoicing.	21 Ele porá de novo o riso em tua boca e em teus lábios, gritos de alegria.
22 They that hate you shall be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked shall be no more.	22 Teus inimigos serão cobertos de vergonha e a tenda dos maus desaparecerá.
