NEW AMERICAN BIBLELXX
Bildad the Shuhite spoke out and said:1 υπολαβων δε βαλδαδ ο σαυχιτης λεγει
How long will you utter such things? The words from your mouth are like a mighty wind!2 μεχρι τινος λαλησεις ταυτα πνευμα πολυρημον του στοματος σου
Does God pervert judgment, and does the Almighty distort justice?3 μη ο κυριος αδικησει κρινων η ο τα παντα ποιησας ταραξει το δικαιον
If your children have sinned against him and he has left them in the grip of their guilt,4 ει οι υιοι σου ημαρτον εναντιον αυτου απεστειλεν εν χειρι ανομιας αυτων
Still, if you yourself have recourse to God and make supplication to the Almighty,5 συ δε ορθριζε προς κυριον παντοκρατορα δεομενος
Should you be blameless and upright, surely now he will awake for you and restore your rightful domain;6 ει καθαρος ει και αληθινος δεησεως επακουσεται σου αποκαταστησει δε σοι διαιταν δικαιοσυνης
Your former state will be of little moment, for in time to come you will flourish indeed.7 εσται ουν τα μεν πρωτα σου ολιγα τα δε εσχατα σου αμυθητα
If you inquire of the former generations, and give heed to the experience of the fathers8 επερωτησον γαρ γενεαν πρωτην εξιχνιασον δε κατα γενος πατερων
(As we are but of yesterday and have no knowledge, because our days on earth are but a shadow),9 χθιζοι γαρ εσμεν και ουκ οιδαμεν σκια γαρ εστιν ημων επι της γης ο βιος
Will they not teach you and tell you and utter their words of understanding?10 η ουχ ουτοι σε διδαξουσιν και αναγγελουσιν και εκ καρδιας εξαξουσιν ρηματα
Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the reed grass flourish without water?11 μη θαλλει παπυρος ανευ υδατος η υψωθησεται βουτομον ανευ ποτου
While it is yet green and uncut, it withers quicker than any grass.12 ετι ον επι ριζης και ου μη θερισθη προ του πιειν πασα βοτανη ουχι ξηραινεται
So is the end of everyone who forgets God, and so shall the hope of the godless man perish.13 ουτως τοινυν εσται τα εσχατα παντων των επιλανθανομενων του κυριου ελπις γαρ ασεβους απολειται
His confidence is but a gossamer thread and his trust is a spider's web.14 αοικητος γαρ αυτου εσται ο οικος αραχνη δε αυτου αποβησεται η σκηνη
He shall rely upon his family, but it shall not last; he shall cling to it, but it shall not endure.15 εαν υπερειση την οικιαν αυτου ου μη στη επιλαβομενου δε αυτου ου μη υπομεινη
He is full of sap before sunrise, and beyond his garden his shoots go forth;16 υγρος γαρ εστιν υπο ηλιου και εκ σαπριας αυτου ο ραδαμνος αυτου εξελευσεται
About a heap of stones are his roots entwined; among the rocks he takes hold.17 επι συναγωγην λιθων κοιμαται εν δε μεσω χαλικων ζησεται
Yet if one tears him from his place, it will disown him: "I have never seen you!"18 εαν καταπιη ο τοπος ψευσεται αυτον ουχ εορακας τοιαυτα
There he lies rotting beside the road, and out of the soil another sprouts.19 οτι καταστροφη ασεβους τοιαυτη εκ δε γης αλλον αναβλαστησει
Behold, God will not cast away the upright; neither will he take the hand of the wicked.20 ο γαρ κυριος ου μη αποποιησηται τον ακακον παν δε δωρον ασεβους ου δεξεται
Once more will he fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with rejoicing.21 αληθινων δε στομα εμπλησει γελωτος τα δε χειλη αυτων εξομολογησεως
They that hate you shall be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked shall be no more.22 οι δε εχθροι αυτων ενδυσονται αισχυνην διαιτα δε ασεβους ουκ εσται
