Job 33

1 Therefore, O Job, hear my discourse, and hearken to all my words.	1 - Ascolta dunque, o Giobbe, le mie parole, e a tutti i miei discorsi presta orecchio.
2 Behold, now I open my mouth; my tongue and my voice form words.	2 Ecco che io apro la mia bocca, e la mia lingua nel mio palato parla;
3 I will state directly what is in my mind, my lips shall utter knowledge sincerely;	3 dal mio schietto cuore [procedono] i miei discorsi, e le mie labbra proferiscono sentenze monde:
4 For the spirit of God has made me, the breath of the Almighty keeps me alive.	4 il soffio di Dio m'ha fatto, e l'alito dell'Onnipotente mi diè vita;
5 If you are able, refute me; draw up your arguments and stand forth.	5 se tu puoi, rispondimi, e prendi posizione contro di me:
6 Behold I, like yourself, have been taken from the same clay by God.	6 ecco, tanto me quanto te ha fatto Dio, e dallo stesso fango fui formato anch'io;
7 Therefore no fear of me should dismay you, nor should my presence weigh heavily upon you.	7 quindi, non temere di me come di cosa straordinaria, e la mia eloquenza non ti sia grave.
8 But you have said in my hearing, as I listened to the sound of your words:	8 Tu dunque ai detto ai miei orecchi, e il suono delle tue parole udii:
9 "I am clean and without transgression; I am innocent; there is no guilt in me.	9 " Puro son io, e senza delitto; immacolato e scevro d'iniquità;
10 Yet he invents pretexts against me and reckons me as his enemy.	10 [ma] poichè [Dio] trovò in me delle querele, per questo mi stima come suo nemico;
11 He puts my feet in the stocks; he watches all my ways!"	11 nel ceppo egli ha posto i miei piedied ha osservato tutte le mie strade! ".
12 In this you are not just, let me tell you; for God is greater than man.	12 Ebbene, questo è dove tu non hai ragione - io ti rispondo -perchè Dio è più grande dell'uomo.
13 Why, then, do you make complaint against him that he gives no account of his doings?	13 Contro di Lui vuoi tu contendere perchè non ha risposto a tutte le tue parole?
14 For God does speak, perhaps once, or even twice, though one perceive it not.	14 In una prima maniera parla Dio, e poi una seconda ma non vi si pone mente.
15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, (when deep sleep falls upon men) as they slumber in their beds,	15 Per mezzo del sogno nella visione notturna, quando il sopore si riversa sugli uominied essi dormono sul giaciglio;
16 It is then he opens the ears of men and as a warning to them, terrifies them;	16 allora apre egli l'orecchio agli uomini, e li erudisce istruendoli nella disciplina,
17 By turning man from evil and keeping pride away from him,	17 affin di ritrarre l'uomo da ciò che sta operando, e liberarlo dalla superbia:
18 He withholds his soul from the pit and his life from passing to the grave.	18 così che libera l'anima sua dallo sterminio, e la sua vita dal passar per la spada.
19 Or a man is chastened on his bed by pain and unceasing suffering within his frame,	19 Ovver lo castiga col dolore sul letto, e tutte le sue ossa fa imputridire;
20 So that to his appetite food becomes repulsive, and his senses reject the choicest nourishment.	20 abominevole diventa a lui nel suo stato il cibo, e l'alimento al suo essere che prima lo gustava:
21 His flesh is wasted so that it cannot be seen, and his bones, once invisible, appear;	21 la carne di lui si va consumando, e le ossa, già ricoperte, si denudano;
22 His soul draws near to the pit, his life to the place of the dead.	22 così l'anima sua s'avvicina allo sterminio, e la sua vita agli esseri mortiferi.
23 If then there be for him an angel, one out of a thousand, a mediator, To show him what is right for him and bring the man back to justice,	23 Ma se vi sarà in suo favore un angeloun interprete - uno fra mille - che mostri all'uomo il suo dovere,
24 He will take pity on him and say, "Deliver him from going down to the pit; I have found him a ransom."	24 [Dio] avrà pietà di lui e dirà:- Liberalo, sì che non scenda al [luogo di] sterminio, poichè ho trovato ciò che mi muove a sua pietà;
25 Then his flesh shall become soft as a boy's; he shall be again as in the days of his youth.	25 la sua carne è consumata dai tormenti, [ma] ritorni come ai giorni di sua giovinezza! -
26 He shall pray and God will favor him; he shall see God's face with rejoicing.	26 Egli pregherà Dio che gli sarà propizio, mostrerà il suo volto in giubilo, e renderà all'uomo la sua giustizia;
27 He shall sing before men and say, "I sinned and did wrong, yet he has not punished me accordingly.	27 questi rivolto agli uomini dirà:- Avevo peccato e veramente prevaricato, e non fui contraccambiato come meritavo! -
28 He delivered my soul from passing to the pit, and I behold the light of life."	28 [Dio] liberò l'anima sua dal cader nella morte, sì che vivendo vedesse la luce.
29 Lo, all these things God does, twice, or thrice, for a man,	29 Ecco, tutto ciò opera Diopiù e più volte con ciascuno,
30 Bringing back his soul from the pit to the light, in the land of the living.	30 affin di ritrarre l'anima sua dallo sterminio, e illuminarla della luce dei viventi.
31 Be attentive, O Job; listen to me! Be silent and I will speak.	31 Sta' attento, Giobbe, ascoltami, e taci mentre io parlo:
32 If you have aught to say, then answer me. Speak out! I should like to see you justified.	32 se hai qualche cosa da dire, rispondimi, parla pure, perchè io gradirei darti ragione:
33 If not, then do you listen to me; be silent while I teach you wisdom.	33 se non hai nulla, ascoltami, taci e io t'insegnerò la sapienza.»
