Genesis 9

1 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them: "Be fertile and multiply and fill the earth.	1 - Dio benedisse Noè ed i suoi figli, e disse loro: «Crescete e moltiplicatevi, e popolate la terra.
2 Dread fear of you shall come upon all the animals of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon all the creatures that move about on the ground and all the fishes of the sea; into your power they are delivered.	2 Abbiano timore e tremore di voi tutti gli animali della terra, e tutti i volatili dell'aria. Tutti gli esseri che si muovon sulla terra, al pari di tutti i pesci del mare, sono rimessi in mano vostra;
3 Every creature that is alive shall be yours to eat; I give them all to you as I did the green plants.	3 tutto quel che si muove e vive, sarà vostro cibo; tutto io v'ho consegnato, al pari dell'erbe verdeggianti;
4 Only flesh with its lifeblood still in it you shall not eat.	4 salvo che non mangerete carne contenente sangue.
5 For your own lifeblood, too, I will demand an accounting: from every animal I will demand it, and from man in regard to his fellow man I will demand an accounting for human life.	5 Perchè io richiederò il sangue e la vita vostra a qualsiasi animale; ed all'uomo, all'uomo ed al suo fratello richiederò la vita dell'uomo.
6 If anyone sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; For in the image of God has man been made.	6 Chiunque versi sangue umano, sarà versato il sangue di lui, perchè l'uomo è stato fatto ad immagine di Dio.
7 Be fertile, then, and multiply; abound on earth and subdue it."	7 Voi dunque crescete e moltiplicatevi; prendete possesso della terra, e popolatela».
8 God said to Noah and to his sons with him:	8 Disse ancora Dio a Noè ed a' suoi figliuoli:
9 "See, I am now establishing my covenant with you and your descendants after you	9 «Ecco, io stabilirò un patto con voi e coi vostri discendenti dopo di voi;
10 and with every living creature that was with you: all the birds, and the various tame and wild animals that were with you and came out of the ark.	10 e con ogni essere vivente che è tra voi, sia dei volatili sia di tutte le bestie e fiere terrestri uscite dall'arca, e con tutti quanti gli animali della terra.
11 I will establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all bodily creatures be destroyed by the waters of a flood; there shall not be another flood to devastate the earth."	11 Stabilirò con voi il mio patto, e mai più saranno uccisi tutti i viventi dalle acque del diluvio, nè vi sarà quind'innanzi diluvio che sconvolga la terra».
12 God added: "This is the sign that I am giving for all ages to come, of the covenant between me and you and every living creature with you:	12 Disse ancora Dio: «Ecco il segnale d'alleanza ch'io stabilisco fra me e voi ed ogni essere vivente che sia per essere tra voi, in tutte le generazioni future:
13 I set my bow in the clouds to serve as a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.	13 porrò nelle nubi il mio arco, e sarà segno d'alleanza fra me e la terra.
14 When I bring clouds over the earth, and the bow appears in the clouds,	14 Quando avrò coperto il cielo di nubi,
15 I will recall the covenant I have made between me and you and all living beings, so that the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all mortal beings.	15 e mi ricorderò del patto mio con voi e con ogni essere che vive in carne; e non verranno più le acque del diluvio a sterminare tutti i viventi.
16 As the bow appears in the clouds, I will see it and recall the everlasting covenant that I have established between God and all living beings--all mortal creatures that are on earth."	16 L'arco starà fra le nubi, e vedendolo mi ricorderò dell'alleanza stabilita per sempre fra Dio ed ogni essere vivente di qualsiasi specie che è sulla terra».
17 God told Noah: "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all mortal creatures that are on earth."	17 Dio disse a Noè: «Questo sarà il segnale dell'alleanza che io ho fermato fra me e tutti i viventi della terra».
18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.)	18 I figli dunque di Noè usciti dall'arca erano Sem, Cam e Iafet; Cam poi fu padre di Canaan.
19 These three were the sons of Noah, and from them the whole earth was peopled.	19 Son questi tre i figli di Noè, e da essi uscì e si sparse su tutta la terra l'intero genere umano.
20 Now Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard.	20 Noè agricoltore si mise a lavorare la terra, e piantò una vigna;
21 When he drank some of the wine, he became drunk and lay naked inside his tent.	21 ed avendo bevuto del vino ne fu ubriacato, e restò scoperto nella sua tenda.
22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness, and he told his two brothers outside about it.	22 Il che avendo visto Cam padre di Canaan, cioè che eran scoperte le vergogne del padre suo, andò fuori a raccontarlo a' due suoi fratelli.
23 Shem and Japheth, however, took a robe, and holding it on their backs, they walked backward and covered their father's nakedness; since their faces were turned the other way, they did not see their father's nakedness.	23 Ma Sem e Iafet si misero un mantello sulle spalle, e camminando all'indietro ne ricoprirono la nudità del padre; ed avendo così voltate le loro facce, non videro le vergogne di lui.
24 When Noah woke up from his drunkenness and learned what his youngest son had done to him,	24 Svegliatosi poi Noè dall'ebrezza, avendo saputo che cosa gli aveva fatto il figlio minore,
25 he said: "Cursed be Caanan! The lowest of slaves shall he be to his brothers."	25 disse: «Maledetto Canaan; sarà servo de' servi de' suoi fratelli.»
26 He also said: "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! Let Canaan be his slave.	26 Disse poi: «Benedetto il Signore Dio di Sem; Canaan sia servo di lui.
27 May God expand Japheth, so that he dwells among the tents of Shem; and let Canaan be his slave."	27 Iddio ingrandisca Iafet; abiti questi nei tabernacoli di Sem, e Canaan sia suo servo.»
28 Noah lived three hundred and fifty years after the flood.	28 Visse Noè dopo il diluvio trecentocinquanta anni.
29 The whole lifetime of Noah was nine hundred and fifty years; then he died.	29 Tutti i suoi giorni furono novecentocinquanta anni; e morì.
