1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;	1 - Non voglio che voi ignoriate, o fratelli, che i nostri padri sono stati tutti sotto la nuvola, e tutti passarono per il mare;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;	2 e tutti per andar dietro a Mosè s'immersero nella nuvola e nel mare;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;	3 e tutti mangiarono lo stesso cibo spirituale e bevvero la stessa bevanda spirituale;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.	4 e bevevano dalla roccia spirituale che li accompagnava, e la roccia era Cristo.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.	5 Ma della maggior parte di loro non si compiacque il Signore, infatti furon prostrati nel deserto.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.	6 Or queste cose divennero esempio per noi del non dover esser desiderosi di cose cattive, come desiderarono anche quelli.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.	7 Nè dovete essere idolatri, come alcuni di quelli, secondo sta scritto: " Il popolo si sedette per mangiare e bere, poi s'alzarono a divertirsi ".
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.	8 Nè fornichiamo come alcuni di loro fornicarono e in un sol giorno ne caddero ventitremila.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.	9 Nè tentiamo il Signore come alcuni di loro fecero e perirono vittime dei serpenti.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.	10 E non mormorate come alcuni di loro mormorarono, e perirono per opera dello sterminatore.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.	11 Queste cose accaddero loro a modo di esempio, e furono scritte per ammonimento a noi cui doveva toccare la fine dei secoli.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.	12 Cosicchè chi crede di star su, badi di non cadere.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.	13 Tentazione non vi ha sorpreso, se non umana; or Iddio è fedele, e non permetterà siate tentati oltre quel che potete, ma con la tentazione vi procurerà anche la via d'uscita, onde possiate sopportarla.
14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.	14 Perciò, miei diletti, fuggite l'idolatria.
15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.	15 Parlo come a persone intelligenti: giudicate voi di quel che dico.
16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?	16 Il calice di benedizione che noi benediciamo, non è comunione del sangue di Cristo? e il pane che spezziamo non è comunione del corpo di Cristo?
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.	17 perchè unico pane e unico corpo formiamo noi pur essendo molti, poichè tutti partecipiamo dell'unico pane.
18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the alter?	18 Guardate l'Israele secondo la carne: non è egli vero che quelli che mangiano le carni delle vittime hanno comunione coll'altare?
19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?	19 Che dico io dunque? che l'immolato agli idoli è qualche cosa? o che qualche cosa sia l'idolo?
20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.	20 no, ma quel che sacrificano i Gentili, lo immolano ai demoni non a Dio. Non voglio che voi abbiate comunione coi demonii;
21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.	21 non potete bere il calice del Signore e il calice dei demonii, non potete partecipare alla mensa del Signore e a quella dei demonii.
22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?	22 Vogliam noi destar la gelosia del Signore? siam forse più forti di lui?
23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.	23 Tutto è lecito ma non tutto giova; tutto è lecito, ma non tutto edifica.
24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.	24 Nessuno cerchi il vantaggio proprio ma l'altrui.
25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:	25 Tutto quello che si vende al mercato, mangiatene senza indagare per quel che riguarda la coscienza,
26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.	26 poichè del Signore è la terra e la pienezza di essa.
27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.	27 E se v'invita qualcuno degli infedeli, e volete andarci, mangiate tutto quel che vi è apposto, senza indagare rispetto alla coscienza.
28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:	28 Ma se uno vi dica: «Questa è carne di vittima immolata»; non ne mangiate, per riguardo a lui che v'ha avvertito e per la coscienza,
29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?	29 la coscienza, dico, non di voi stessi, ma di quell'altro. Infatti perchè la mia libertà ha da esser giudicata dalla coscienza altrui?
30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?	30 se io partecipo [alla mensa] con rendimento di grazie, perchè ho a esser biasimato rispetto a ciò di cui ringrazio?
31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.	31 Sia che mangiate dunque, sia che beviate, sia che facciate altra cosa, fate tutto per la gloria di Dio.
32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:	32 Non siate d'inciampo nè a Giudei nè a Gentili, nè alla Chiesa di Dio.
33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.	33 Nel modo che anch'io cerco compiacere a tutti non cercando il mio vantaggio, ma quello dei molti affinchè siano salvi.
