1 Corinthians 10

1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;	1 Car je ne veux pas que vous l'ignoriez, frères: nos pères ont tous été sous la nuée, tous ontpassé à travers la mer,
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;	2 tous ont été baptisés en Moïse dans la nuée et dans la mer,
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;	3 tous ont mangé le même aliment spirituel
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.	4 et tous ont bu le même breuvage spirituel - ils buvaient en effet à un rocher spirituel qui lesaccompagnait, et ce rocher, c'était le Christ.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.	5 Cependant, ce n'est pas le plus grand nombre d'entre eux qui plut à Dieu, puisque leurs corpsjonchèrent le désert.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.	6 Ces faits se sont produits pour nous servir d'exemples, pour que nous n'ayons pas deconvoitises mauvaises, comme ils en eurent eux-mêmes.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.	7 Ne devenez pas idolâtres comme certains d'entre eux, dont il est écrit: Le peuple s'assit pourmanger et boire, puis ils se levèrent pour s'amuser.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.	8 Et ne forniquons pas, comme le firent certains d'entre eux; et il en tomba 23.000 en un seuljour.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.	9 Ne tentons pas non plus le Seigneur, comme le firent certains d'entre eux; et ils périrent parles serpents.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.	10 Et ne murmurez pas, comme le firent certains d'entre eux; et ils périrent par l'Exterminateur.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.	11 Cela leur arrivait pour servir d'exemple, et a été écrit pour notre instruction à nous quitouchons à la fin des temps.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.	12 Ainsi donc, que celui qui se flatte d'être debout prenne garde de tomber.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.	13 Aucune tentation ne vous est survenue, qui passât la mesure humaine. Dieu est fidèle; il nepermettra pas que vous soyez tentés au-delà de vos forces; mais avec la tentation, il vous donnera le moyen d'ensortir et la force de la supporter.
14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.	14 C'est pourquoi, mes bien-aimés, fuyez l'idolâtrie.
15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.	15 Je vous parle comme à des gens sensés; jugez vous-mêmes de ce que je dis.
16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?	16 La coupe de bénédiction que nous bénissons, n'est-elle pas communion au sang du Christ?Le pain que nous rompons, n'est-il pas communion au corps du Christ?
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.	17 Parce qu'il n'y a qu'un pain, à plusieurs nous ne sommes qu'un corps, car tous nousparticipons à ce pain unique.
18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the alter?	18 Considérez l'Israël selon la chair. Ceux qui mangent les victimes ne sont-ils pas encommunion avec l'autel?
19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?	19 Qu'est-ce à dire? Que la viande immolée aux idoles soit quelque chose? Ou que l'idole soitquelque chose?...
20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.	20 Mais ce qu'on immole, c'est à des démons et à ce qui n'est pas Dieu qu'on l'immole. Or, jene veux pas que vous entriez en communion avec les démons.
21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.	21 Vous ne pouvez boire la coupe du Seigneur et la coupe des démons; vous ne pouvezparticiper à la table du Seigneur et à la table des démons.
22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?	22 Ou bien voudrions-nous provoquer la jalousie du Seigneur? Serions-nous plus forts que lui?
23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.	23 "Tout est permis"; mais tout n'est pas profitable. "Tout est permis"; mais tout n'édifie pas.
24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.	24 Que personne ne cherche son propre intérêt, mais celui d'autrui.
25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:	25 Tout ce qui se vend au marché, mangez-le sans poser de question par motif de conscience;
26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.	26 car la terre est au Seigneur, et tout ce qui la remplit.
27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.	27 Si quelque infidèle vous invite et que vous acceptiez d'y aller, mangez tout ce qu'on voussert, sans poser de question par motif de conscience.
28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:	28 Mais si quelqu'un vous dit: "Ceci a été immolé en sacrifice", n'en mangez pas, à cause decelui qui vous a prévenus, et par motif de conscience.
29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?	29 Par conscience j'entends non la vôtre, mais celle d'autrui; car pourquoi ma liberté relèverait-elle du jugement d'une conscience étrangère?
30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?	30 Si je prends quelque chose en rendant grâce, pourquoi serais-je blâmé pour ce dont je rendsgrâce?
31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.	31 Soit donc que vous mangiez, soit que vous buviez, et quoi que vous fassiez, faites tout pourla gloire de Dieu.
32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:	32 Ne donnez scandale ni aux Juifs, ni aux Grecs, ni à l'Eglise de Dieu,
33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.	33 tout comme moi je m'efforce de plaire en tout à tous, ne recherchant pas mon propre intérêt,mais celui du plus grand nombre, afin qu'ils soient sauvés.
