KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.1 For the leader; with stringed instruments, "upon the eighth." A psalm of David.
Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.2 Do not reprove me in your anger, LORD, nor punish me in your wrath.
My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long?3 Have pity on me, LORD, for I am weak; heal me, LORD, for my bones are trembling.
Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake.4 In utter terror is my soul-- and you, LORD, how long...?
For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?5 Turn, LORD, save my life; in your mercy rescue me.
I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.6 For who among the dead remembers you? Who praises you in Sheol?
Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.7 I am wearied with sighing; all night long tears drench my bed; my couch is soaked with weeping.
Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.8 My eyes are dimmed with sorrow, worn out because of all my foes.
The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.9 Away from me, all who do evil! The LORD has heard my weeping.
Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.10 The LORD has heard my prayer; the LORD takes up my plea.
My foes will be terrified and disgraced; all will fall back in sudden shame.
