Psalms 33

1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.	1 (Di David: quando si contraffece davanti ad Achimelec, e, da lui licenziato, se ne andò).
2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.	2 Benedirò il Signore in ogni tempo, ed avrò sempre la sua lode nella mia bocca.
3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.	3 L'anima mia si glorierà nel Signore: lo sentanogli umili e si rallegrino.
4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.	4 Magnificate meco il Signore, esaltiamo insieme il suo nome.
5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.	5 Ho cercato il Signore ed Egli m'ha esaudito, m'ha liberato da tutte le mie tribolazioni.
6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.	6 Accostatevi a lui e sarete illuminati, e i vostri volti non avran da arrossire.
7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.	7 Questo disgraziato alzò le grida, e il Signore l'esaudì, lo liberò da tutte le sue tribolazioni.
8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.	8 L'angelo del Signore si slancia intorno a quelli che lo temono e li salva.
9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.	9 Gustate e vedete quanto è soave il Signore! Beato l'uomo che spera in lui!
10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.	10 Temete il Signore voi tutti, o santi suoi, perchè nulla manca a coloro che lo temono.
11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.	11 I ricchi si trovan nel bisogno e patiscono la fame, ma chi cerca il Signore non è privo d'alcun bene.
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.	12 Venite, figli, ascoltatemi: io v'insegnerò il timor del Signore.
13 The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.	13 Chi è che brama la vita e desidera vedere dei giorni lieti?
14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.	14 Preserva la tua lingua dal male, e i tuoi labbri non parlino con inganno.
15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.	15 Evita il male e fa il bene, cerca la pace e seguila.
16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.	16 Gli occhi del Signore sopra i giusti, le sue orecchie sono intente alle loro preghiere.
17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.	17 Ma la faccia del Signore è sopra quelli che fanno il male, per disperdere dal mondo la loro memoria.
18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;	18 I giusti alzano le grida, e il Signore li ascolta e li libera da tutte le tribolazioni.
19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.	19 Il Signore sta vicino a quelli che hanno il cuore afflitto, e salva gli umili di spirito.
20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.	20 Molte le tribolazioni dei giusti, ma da tutte li libera il Signore.
21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.	21 Egli ha cura di tutti i loro ossi: neppure uno di essi sarà spezzato.
22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.	22 La morte dei peccatori è orribile, e quelli che odiano il giusto ne porteran la pena.
	23 Il Signore riscatta le anime dei suoi servi: non avran pena tutti quelli che sperano in Lui.
