Psalms 18

1 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.	1 Magistro chori. David, servi Domini, qui locutus est ad Dominum verba huius cantici, quando Dominus eum liberaverat e potestate omnium inimicorum suorum
2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.	2 et e manu Saul. Dixit igitur: Diligam te, Domine, fortitudo mea.
3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.	3 Domine, firmamentum meum et refugium meum et liberator meus; Deus meus, adiutor meus, et sperabo in eum; protector meus et cornu salutis meae et susceptor meus.
4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.	4 Laudabilem invocabo Dominum, et ab inimicis meis salvus ero.
5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.	5 Circumdederunt me fluctus mortis, et torrentes Belial conturbaverunt me;
6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.	6 funes inferni circumdederunt me, praeoccupaverunt me laquei mortis.
7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.	7 In tribulatione mea invocavi Dominum et ad Deum meum clamavi; exaudivit de templo suo vocem meam, et clamor meus in conspectu eius introivit in aures eius.
8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.	8 Commota est et contremuit terra; fundamenta montium concussa sunt et commota sunt, quoniam iratus est.
9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.	9 Ascendit fumus de naribus eius, et ignis de ore eius devorans; carbones succensi processerunt ab eo.
10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.	10 Inclinavit caelos et descendit, et caligo sub pedibus eius.
11 He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.	11 Et ascendit super cherub et volavit, ferebatur super pennas ventorum.
12 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.	12 Et posuit tenebras latibulum suum, in circuitu eius tabernaculum eius, tenebrosa aqua, nubes aeris.
13 The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.	13 Prae fulgore in conspectu eius nubes transierunt, grando et carbones ignis.
14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.	14 Et intonuit de caelo Dominus, et Altissimus dedit vocem suam: grando et carbones ignis.
15 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.	15 Et misit sagittas suas et dissipavit eos, fulgura iecit et conturbavit eos.
16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.	16 Et apparuerunt fontes aquarum, et revelata sunt fundamenta orbis terrarum ab increpatione tua, Domine, ab inspiratione spiritus irae tuae.
17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.	17 Misit de summo et accepit me et assumpsit me de aquis multis;
18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.	18 eripuit me de inimicis meis fortissimis et ab his, qui oderunt me, quoniam confortati sunt super me.
19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.	19 Oppugnaverunt me in die afflictionis meae, et factus est Dominus fulcimentum meum;
20 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.	20 et eduxit me in latitudinem, salvum me fecit, quoniam voluit me.
21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.	21 Et retribuet mihi Dominus secundum iustitiam meam et secundum puritatem manuum mearum reddet mihi,
22 For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.	22 quia custodivi vias Domini nec impie recessi a Deo meo.
23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.	23 Quoniam omnia iudicia eius in conspectu meo, et iustitias eius non reppuli a me;
24 Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.	24 et fui immaculatus cum eo et observavi me ab iniquitate.
25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;	25 Et retribuit mihi Dominus secundum iustitiam meam et secundum puritatem manuum mearum in conspectu oculorum eius.
26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.	26 Cum sancto sanctus eris et cum viro innocente innocens eris
27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.	27 et cum electo electus eris et cum perverso callidus eris.
28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.	28 Quoniam tu populum humilem salvum facies et oculos superborum humiliabis.
29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.	29 Quoniam tu accendis lucernam meam, Domine; Deus meus illuminat tenebras meas.
30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.	30 Quoniam in te aggrediar hostium turmas et in Deo meo transiliam murum.
31 For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?	31 Deus, impolluta via eius, eloquia Domini igne examinata; protector est omnium sperantium in se.
32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.	32 Quoniam quis Deus praeter Dominum? Aut quae munitio praeter Deum nostrum?
33 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.	33 Deus, qui praecinxit me virtute et posuit immaculatam viam meam;
34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.	34 qui perfecit pedes meos tamquam cervorum et super excelsa statuit me;
35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.	35 qui docet manus meas ad proelium, et tendunt arcum aereum brachia mea.
36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.	36 Et dedisti mihi scutum salutis tuae, et dextera tua suscepit me, et exauditio tua magnificavit me.
37 I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.	37 Dilatasti gressus meos subtus me, et non sunt infirmata vestigia mea.
38 I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.	38 Persequebar inimicos meos et comprehendebam illos et non convertebar, donec deficerent.
39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.	39 Confringebam illos, nec poterant stare, cadebant subtus pedes meos.
40 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.	40 Et praecinxisti me virtute ad bellum et supplantasti insurgentes in me subtus me.
41 They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.	41 Et inimicos meos dedisti mihi dorsum et odientes me disperdidisti.
42 Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.	42 Clamaverunt, nec erat qui salvos faceret, ad Dominum, nec exaudivit eos.
43 Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.	43 Et comminui eos ut pulverem ante faciem venti, ut lutum platearum contrivi eos.
44 As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.	44 Eripuisti me de contradictionibus populi, constituisti me in caput gentium. Populus, quem non cognovi, servivit mihi,
45 The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.	45 in auditu auris oboedivit mihi. Filii alieni blanditi sunt mihi,
46 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.	46 filii alieni inveterati sunt, contremuerunt in abditis suis.
47 It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.	47 Vivit Dominus, et benedictus Adiutor meus, et exaltetur Deus salutis meae.
48 He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.	48 Deus, qui das vindictas mihi et subdis populos sub me, liberator meus de inimicis meis iracundis;
49 Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.	49 et ab insurgentibus in me exaltas me, a viro iniquo eripis me.
50 Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.	50 Propterea confitebor tibi in nationibus, Domine, et nomini tuo psalmum dicam,
	51 magnificans salutes regis sui et faciens misericordiam christo suo David et semini eius usque in saeculum.
