1 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;	1 Cântico das peregrinações. De Davi. Se o Senhor não tivesse estado conosco, sim, diga-o Israel,
2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:	2 se o Senhor não tivesse estado conosco, os homens que se insurgiram contra nós
3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:	3 ter-nos-iam então devorado vivos. Quando seu furor se desencadeou contra nós,
4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:	4 as águas nos teriam submergido. Uma torrente teria passado sobre nós.
5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.	5 Então nos teriam recoberto as ondas intumescidas.
6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.	6 Bendito seja o Senhor, que não nos entregou como presa aos seus dentes.
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.	7 Nossa alma escapou como um pássaro, dos laços do caçador. Rompeu-se a armadilha, e nos achamos livres.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.	8 Nosso socorro está no nome do Senhor, criador do céu e da terra.
