1 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;	1 Canto delle ascensioni. Di Davide. Se il Signore non fosse stato per noi lo dica Israele
2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:	2 se il Signore non fosse stato per noi quando ci assalivano gli uomini,
3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:	3 certamente ci avrebbero inghiottiti vivi, quando divampò il loro furore contro di noi.
4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:	4 Certamente ci avrebbero travolti le acque, un torrente sarebbe passato su di noi.
5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.	5 Certamente acque impetuose sarebbero passate su di noi.
6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.	6 Benedetto sia il Signore, perché non ha permesso che fossimo preda dei loro denti.
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.	7 L'anima nostra è stata liberata, come l'uccello dal laccio del cacciatore: il laccio si è spezzato e noi siamo tornati in libertà.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.	8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore: egli ha fatto cieli e terra!
