Psalms 124

KING JAMES BIBLE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;	1 [Song of Ascents Of David] If Yahweh had not been on our side -- let Israel repeat it-
2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:	2 if Yahweh had not been on our side when people attacked us,
3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:	3 they would have swal owed us alive in the heat of their anger.
4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:	4 Then water was washing us away, a torrent running right over us;
5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.	5 running right over us then were turbulent waters.
6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.	6 Blessed be Yahweh for not letting us fall a prey to their teeth!
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.	7 We escaped like a bird from the fowlers' net. The net was broken and we escaped;
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.	8 our help is in the name of Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.
