1 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;	1 Cantique des montées. De David. Heureusement le Seigneur était avec nous, Israël peut bien le dire.
2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:	2 Heureusement le Seigneur était avec nous quand le monde s’en prit à nous.
3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:	3 Sinon ils nous avalaient vivants tant ils étaient emportés contre nous.
4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:	4 Un peu plus et les eaux nous submergeaient, le torrent nous passait par-dessus,
5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.	5 et nos âmes restaient sous les eaux écumantes.
6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.	6 Béni soit le Seigneur! Il n’a pas fait de nous la proie de nos ennemis.
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.	7 Comme l’oiseau notre âme s’est échappée du filet de l’oiseleur. Le filet s’est rompu et nous avons échappé.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.	8 Notre secours est dans le Nom du Seigneur qui a fait le ciel et la terre.
