Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.1 To David himself. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and bless his holy name, all that is within me.
Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all his recompenses.
For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.3 He forgives all your iniquities. He heals all your infirmities.
My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.4 He redeems your life from destruction. He crowns you with mercy and compassion.
By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.5 He satisfies your desire with good things. Your youth will be renewed like that of the eagle.
I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.6 The Lord accomplishes mercies, and his judgment is for all who patiently endure injuries.
I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.7 He has made his ways known to Moses, his will to the sons of Israel.
Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.8 The Lord is compassionate and merciful, patient and full of mercy.
For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,9 He will not be angry forever, and he will not threaten for eternity.
Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, and he has not repaid us according to our iniquities.
My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.11 For according to the height of the heavens above the earth, so has he reinforced his mercy toward those who fear him.
But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our iniquities from us.
Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.13 As a father is compassionate to his sons, so has the Lord been compassionate to those who fear him.
For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.14 For he knows our form. He has called to mind that we are dust.
So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.15 Man: his days are like hay. Like the flower of the field, so will he flourish.
When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.16 For the spirit in him will pass away, and it will not remain, and he will know his place no longer.
He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.17 But the mercy of the Lord is from eternity, and even unto eternity, upon those who fear him. And his justice is with the sons of the sons,
This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.18 with those who serve his covenant and have been mindful of his commandments by doing them.
For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;19 The Lord has prepared his throne in heaven, and his kingdom will rule over all.
To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;20 Bless the Lord, all you his Angels: powerful in virtue, doing his word, in order to heed the voice of his discourse.
To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts: his ministers who do his will.
When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.22 Bless the Lord, all his works: in every place of his dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul.
He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.
I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.
Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.
The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
