1 Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?	1 E' egli a te noto il tempo, in cui le capre salvatiche partoriscono nelle spelonche; od hai tu osservato il partorir delle cerve?
2 Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?	2 Hai tu contati i mesi di lor gravidanza, e segnato il tempo del loro parto?
3 They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.	3 Elle si incurvano, e partoriscono urlando.
4 Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.	4 Si separano da esse i loro parti, e vanno alla pastura: se ne vanno, né tornan più a rivederle.
5 Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?	5 Chi pose l'asino salvatico in libertà, e da ogni freno lo sciolse?
6 Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.	6 A lui io diedi per casa il deserto, e per istanza una terra infeconda.
7 He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.	7 Egli dispregia gli strepiti delle città, e non ode le grida di un duro padrone.
8 The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.	8 Volge egli in giro gli occhi alle montagne di sua pastura, e va in traccia di ogni genere di verzura.
9 Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?	9 Vorrà egli servire a te il rinoceronte, o starsene alla tua mangiatoia?
10 Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?	10 Porrai tu al tuo giogo ad arare il rinoceronte; o romperà egli dietro a te le zolle delle tue valli?
11 Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?	11 Ti fiderai tu della sua gran forza, e a cura di lui porrai i tuoi lavori di campagna?
12 Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?	12 Credi tu ch'ei ti renderà la tua semente, ed empierà la tua aia?
13 Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?	13 La piuma dello struzzo è simile alle penne della cicogna, e dello sparviere.
14 Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,	14 Quand'egli abbandona le sue uova per terra, se tu' forse, che tralla polvere le riscaldi?
15 And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.	15 Egli non pensa, che il piede le schiaccerà, o le fiere selvagge le pesteranno.
16 She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labour is in vain without fear;	16 Egli è crudele verso i suoi parti, come se suoi non fossero, egli getta le sue fatiche, senza che timore alcuno il costringa.
17 Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.	17 Perché il Signore lo privò di saggezza, e non gli diede discernimento.
18 What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.	18 Ma quando è tempo egli stende in alto sue ali, o si burla del cavallo, e del cavaliere.
19 Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?	19 Sarai tu che darai fortezza al cavallo, o la sua gola empierai di nitriti?
20 Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.	20 Lo farai tu saltellare come le locuste? la maestà delle sue narici atterrisce?
21 He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.	21 Scalza la terra colla zampa, saltella con brio, va incontro agli armati,
22 He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.	22 Disprezzator di paura, nol rattiene la spada.
23 The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.	23 Sente sopra di se il rumor del turcasso, il vibrar delle lance, e il moto dello scudo.
24 He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.	24 Spumante, e fremente si mangia la terra, né aspetta che suoni la tromba.
25 He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.	25 Sentita ch'egli ha la tromba, dice: Bene sta. Sente da lungi l'odor di battaglia, le esortazioni de' capitani, e le strida delle milizie.
26 Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?	26 Forse per effetto di tua sapienza si veste lo sparviere di piume, e le ali distende verso il mezzodì?
27 Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?	27 Forse al tuo comando si leverà in alto l'aquila, e in luoghi eccelsi farà, suo nido?
28 She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.	28 Se ne sta ella sui massi, e negli scoscesi dirupi, e su' gioghi inaccessibili.
29 From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.	29 Di là ella contempla la preda, e i suoi occhi veggono in gran lontananza.
30 Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.	30 I suoi aquilotti leccano il sangue, e dovunque sia un cadavere tosto ella, si trova.
	31 E il Signore soggiunse, e disse a Giobbe:
	32 Colui che alterca con Dio, si acquieterà egli si facilmente? Certo che chi vuoi riprendere Dio debbe rispondergli.
	33 Ma Giobbe rispose al Signore, e disse:
	34 Io che ho parlato con leggerezza, che posso rispondere? mi porrò la mano alla bocca.
	35 Una cosa ho detto, la quale non avess'io detta giammai; e anche un'altra, alle quali niente più aggiungerò.
