1 Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?	1 Tudod-e a kőszáli kecske ellési idejét? Figyeled-e a szarvastehén fajzását?
2 Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?	2 Számon tartod-e vemhességük hónapjait, és tudod-e ellésük idejét?
3 They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.	3 Lekuporodnak vajúdva, megellenek és bőgnek.
4 Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.	4 Fiaik elválnak, elmennek legelőre, elszélednek és nem térnek vissza hozzájuk.
5 Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?	5 Ki bocsátotta a vadszamarat szabadon, és ki oldotta el köteleit?
6 Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.	6 A pusztát rendeltem házául, a sós sivatagot lakóhelyéül.
7 He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.	7 Megveti a város zsivaját, és nem hallja a hajcsár kiáltását.
8 The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.	8 Felkutatja legelőjét: a hegyeket, és minden zöldet felkeres.
9 Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?	9 Akar-e neked szolgálni a vadmarha? Meghál-e a jászolodnál?
10 Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?	10 Szántásra fogod-e a vadmarhát kötéllel? Töri-e a rögöt a völgyekben utánad?
11 Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?	11 Bízol-e benne, mert nagy az ereje, és ráhagyod a munkádat?
12 Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?	12 Rábíznád-e, hogy behordja gabonádat és megtöltse szérűdet?
13 Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?	13 Vígan csapkod a struccmadár szárnya; bizony kegyetlen a szárnya s a tollazata!
14 Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,	14 Hisz tojásait a földön hagyja s a porban melegíti őket;
15 And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.	15 felejti, hogy láb eltapossa, s a mező vadja eltiporja őket.
16 She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labour is in vain without fear;	16 Kemény a fiaihoz, mintha nem is az övéi volnának, nem bánja, ha kárba vész a fáradsága;
17 Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.	17 mert Isten megvonta tőle az okosságot, és nem adott neki előrelátást;
18 What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.	18 de amikor itt az ideje, a magasba rebben, és kineveti a lovat meg a rajta ülőt.
19 Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?	19 Te adsz-e erőt a lónak? Te ruházod-e fel nyakát sörénnyel?
20 Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.	20 Te tanítod-e, hogy ugorjon, mint a sáska? Be félelmetes orrának büszke prüszkölése!
21 He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.	21 A földet kapálja körmeivel, bátran ficánkol, szembeszáll a fegyveresekkel.
22 He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.	22 Megveti a félelmet, és nem hátrál a kard elől.
23 The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.	23 Csöröghet a tegez fölötte, villoghat a lándzsa és a pajzs,
24 He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.	24 izgatottan, tombolva falja a földet, és nem marad veszteg, ha megriad a harsona,
25 He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.	25 amikor hallja a harsonát, azt mondja: ‘Hajrá!’ Már messziről szimatolja a harcot, a vezérek buzdító szavát, a sereg kiáltását.
26 Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?	26 A te bölcsességed által tollasodik-e meg a sólyom, és terjeszti ki szárnyait dél felé?
27 Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?	27 Parancsszódra száll-e a sas a magasba, és fészkel meredek helyen?
28 She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.	28 Sziklán lakik és ott tanyázik, meredek kőszálon, járatlan bércen,
29 From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.	29 onnan kémleli étkét, és szeme ellát messzire,
30 Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.	30 fiókái vért szürcsölnek, és tüstént ott terem, ahol tetem van.«
