KING JAMES BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place.1 At this my heart trembleth, and is moved out of its place.
Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth.2 Hear ye attentively the terror of his voice, and the sound that cometh out of his mouth.
He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.3 He beholdeth under all the heavens, and his light is upon the ends of the earth.
After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.4 After it a noise shall roar, he shall thunder with the voice of his majesty, and shall not be found out, when his voice shall be heard.
God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.5 God shall thunder wonderfully with his voice, he that doth great and unsearchable things.
For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.6 He commandeth the snow to go down upon the earth, and the winter rain, and the shower of his strength.
He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.7 He sealeth up the hand of all men, that every one may know his works.
Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places.8 Then the beast shall go into his covert, and shall abide in his den.
Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north.9 Out of the inner parts shall a tempest come, and cold out of the north.
By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened.10 When God bloweth there cometh frost, and again the waters are poured out abundantly.
Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud:11 Corn desireth clouds, and the clouds spread their light :
And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.12 Which go round about, whithersoever the will of him that governeth them shall lead them, to whatsoever he shall command them upon the face of the whole earth :
He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.13 Whether in one tribe, or in his own land, or in what place soever of his mercy he shall command them to be found.
Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.14 Hearken to these things, Job : Stand, and consider the wondrous works of God.
Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine?15 Dost thou know when God commanded the rains, to shew his light of his clouds?
Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?16 Knowest thou the great paths of the clouds, and the perfect knowledges?
How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?17 Are not thy garments hot, when the south wind blows upon the earth?
Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?18 Thou perhaps hast made the heavens with him, which are most strong, as if they were of molten brass.
Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.19 Shew us what we may say to him : for we are wrapped up in darkness.
Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.20 Who shall tell him the things I speak? even if a man shall speak, he shall be swallowed up.
And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.21 But now they see not the light : the air on a sudden shall be thickened into clouds, and the wind shall pass and drive them away.
Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.22 Cold cometh out of the north, and to God praise with fear.
Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.23 We cannot find him worthily : he is great in strength, and in judgment, and in justice, and he is ineffable.
Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.24 Therefore men shall fear him, and all that seem to themselves to be wise, shall not dare to behold him.
