Job 36

1 Elihu also proceeded, and said,	1 Eliú, continuando, disse:
2 Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.	2 Suporta-me um pouco, e eu me explicarei contigo, porque ainda tenho que falar em defesa de Deus.
3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.	3 Tornarei a pegar no discurso desde o principio, e provarei que o meu criador é justo.
4 For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.	4 Verdadeiramente os meus discursos são sem mentira; far-te-ei ver que a (minha) doutrina é sólida.
5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.	5 Deus é poderoso, mas não desdenhoso. é poderoso pela sua ciência,
6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.	6 Não deixa florescer os ímpios, e faz justiça aos pobres.
7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.	7 Não tirará (nunca) os seus olhos dos justos, e, ao fim, os colocará, com os reis, sobre o trono, numa glória eterna.
8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;	8 E, se estiverem em cadeias, atados com os laços da pobreza,
9 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.	9 ele lhes fará ver as suas obras, as suas maldades, cometidas por orgulho.
10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.	10 Abrir-lhes-ã os ouvidos à correção e lhes falará para que se convertam da sua iniquidade.
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.	11 Se ouvirem e obedecerem, acabarão os seus dias na felicidade, os seus anos em delícias.
12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.	12 Porém, se não ouvirem, serão passados à espada, e perecerão na sua cegueira.
13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.	13 Os corações impios entregam-se à cólera, não clamam a Deus, quando se vêem aprisionados.
14 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.	14 Morrerão em plena juventude, e a sua vida acabará como a dos dissolutos.
15 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.	15 Pelo contrário Deus livra o pobre, pela sua angústia, e abre-lhe o ouvido com a tribulação,
16 Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.	16 Ele te salvará (ó Job) do abismo estreito da angústia e te porá ao largo, em plena liberdade, (se te converteres), e tu repousarás à tua mesa cheia de gordas viandas.
17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.	17 Mas se seguires as vias do impio, suportarás a sentença e o castigo.
18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.	18 Não te leve, pois, a ira, ao arrebatamento, nem te faça desanimar a grandeza da expiação.
19 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.	19 Poderá tirar-te da angústia o teu clamor, e todos os teus vigorosos esforços?
20 Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.	20 Não suspires pela noite (da morte), na qual entram os povos, um após outro.
21 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.	21 Guarda-te de declinares para a iniquidade, ainda que a abraçasses, levado pela miséria.
22 Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?	22 Olha como Deus é excelso na sua fortaleza. Quem, como ele, é terrível?
23 Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?	23 Quem lhe prescreveu normas de conduta? Ou quem poderá dizer-lhe: Tu fizeste mal?
24 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.	24 Lembra-te que deves celebrar a sua obra, a qual tantos homens cantaram.
25 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.	25 Todos os homens o vêem, mas cada um o vê de longe.
26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.	26 Com efeito. Deus é grande e ultrapassa toda a nossa ciência, o número dos seus anos é incalculável.
27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:	27 Ele atrai as gotas de água, e derrama-as em (forma de) chuva, na cerração.
28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.	28 Caem dás nuvens, abundantemente sobre os homens.
29 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?	29 Quem compreende a extensão das nuvens, os fragores do pavilhão (do Altíssimo)?
30 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.	30 Ele estende em volta de si a sua luz desde o alto, e cobre as extremidades do mar.
31 For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.	31 Por meio destas coisas exerce os seus juízos sobre os povos, e alimenta abundantemente os mortais (fecundando a terra),
32 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.	32 Nas suas mãos esconde a luz, e manda-lhe que torne de novo.
33 The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.	33 Faz conhecer a quem ama, que ele é possessão sua, e que pode subir até ela.
