Job 36

1 Elihu also proceeded, and said,	1 Eliu proseguì dicendo:
2 Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.	2 "Aspetta un poco e ti istruirò, perché ci sono altre cose da dire in difesa di Dio.
3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.	3 Attingerò la mia scienza da lontano, per rendere giustizia a colui che mi ha creato.
4 For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.	4 Certo, le mie parole non sono menzognere, un sapiente consumato parla con te.
5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.	5 Ecco, Dio è grande e non si ritrae, è potente per la fermezza delle sue decisioni.
6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.	6 Non lascia vivere il malvagio e rende giustizia ai poveri.
7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.	7 Non distoglie dai giusti i suoi occhi, li fa sedere sul trono insieme ai re e li esalta per sempre.
8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;	8 Ma se vengono legati in catene e sono stretti con corde di afflizione,
9 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.	9 fa loro conoscere le opere loro e le loro infedeltà, perché insuperbirono.
10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.	10 Apre loro gli orecchi per la correzione e li esorta ad allontanarsi dal male.
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.	11 Se ascoltano e si sottomettono, finiranno i loro giorni nel benessere ed i loro anni nelle delizie.
12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.	12 Ma se non ascoltano, periranno di spada; spireranno senza rendersene conto.
13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.	13 I perversi di cuore accumulano ira, non invocano aiuto, quando Dio li avvince in catene.
14 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.	14 Pèrdono la vita in piena gioventù e la loro esistenza tra gli ieroduli.
15 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.	15 Ma egli salva il povero mediante l'afflizione e gli schiude l'udito mediante la sofferenza.
16 Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.	16 Anche te intende sottrarre dal morso dell'angustia; avrai in cambio un luogo ampio e aperto, e la tavola che ti sarà servita sarà colma di vivande grasse.
17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.	17 Ma se tu incorri in un verdetto di condanna, verdetto e giudizio vinceranno.
18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.	18 La collera non ti trascini all'imprudenza, non ti seduca l'abbondanza del riscatto.
19 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.	19 Varrà forse davanti a lui la tua implorazione nell'angustia, o tutte le risorse della tua forza?
20 Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.	20 Non sospirare a quella notte, quando i popoli vanno al loro luogo!
21 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.	21 Bada di non volgerti all'iniquità, perché per questo sei stato provato dall'afflizione.
22 Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?	22 Ecco, Dio è sublime nella sua potenza; quale maestro lo può uguagliare?
23 Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?	23 Chi può indicargli il cammino, e chi può dirgli: "Hai commesso ingiustizia"?
24 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.	24 Ricòrdati di celebrare la sua opera, che altri uomini hanno cantato.
25 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.	25 Tutti gli uomini la ammirano, i mortali la contemplano da lontano.
26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.	26 Sì, Dio è grande, anche se non lo riconosciamo; il numero dei suoi anni è incalcolabile.
27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:	27 Egli attira le gocce d'acqua, che si condensano in vapore per la pioggia,
28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.	28 che le nubi riverseranno, grondando sugli uomini in gran quantità.
29 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?	29 Chi può calcolare l'estensione delle nubi, l'alta posizione della sua tenda?
30 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.	30 Ecco, come si spande la sua luce, con essa ricopre la profondità del mare.
31 For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.	31 In tal modo sostenta i popoli, e dà loro il cibo in abbondanza.
32 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.	32 Arma le mani di folgori e le scaglia contro il bersaglio.
33 The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.	33 Il suo tuono lo annuncia, attira l'ira contro l'iniquità.
