Job 36

1 Elihu also proceeded, and said,	1 - Proseguendo poi Eliu, disse:
2 Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.	2 «Aspettami un poco e ti ammaestrerò, giacchè ho ancora altre cose da dire in favor di Dio.
3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.	3 Riprenderò le mie cognizioni da principio, e proverò che il mio creatore è giusto:
4 For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.	4 poichè certamente senza menzogna sono i miei detti, e una scienza perfetta ti piacerà.
5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.	5 Dio non rigetta i potenti, essendo egli pure potente;
6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.	6 ma gli empii egli non salva, e ai poverelli accorda il diritto:
7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.	7 non distoglie dal giusto gli occhi suoiegli che pone i re sul trono in perpetuo, sì che vengano esaltati.
8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;	8 Ma se sono avvinti in catene, e astretti dai legami della miseria,
9 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.	9 allora egli mostra ad essi il loro agire, e i loro delitti, quanto furon crudeli:
10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.	10 apre ancora il loro orecchio all'ammonizione, ed esorta che si convertano dal male.
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.	11 Se ascoltano e si sottomettono, finiscono i loro giorni nella felicitàe gli anni loro nella gloria;
12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.	12 se invece non ascoltano, saranno passati a fil di spada, e periranno nella stoltezza.
13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.	13 Gl'ipocriti e gli astuti provocano l'ira di Dio, e non innalzano grida quando egli l'incatena;
14 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.	14 morirà precocemente l'anima loro, e la loro vita finirà fra gl'impuri.
15 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.	15 Egli salva il povero dalla sua angustia, e ammonisce il suo orecchio per mezzo della tribolazione.
16 Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.	16 Perciò egli ti salverà dalle fauci della distretta; l'ampiezza e non la strettezza sarà il tuo luogo, e riposerai alla tua mensa ricolma di grasse vivande.
17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.	17 La causa tua è stata giudicata come di empio, e riceverai [su te] la causa e la sentenza.
18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.	18 Non ti vinca dunque l'ira, sì che tu opprima qualcuno, nè i molti donativi ti faccian declinare.
19 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.	19 Sorge forse il tuo grido senza l'angustia, e senza tutti gli strapazzi della violenza?
20 Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.	20 Non potrarre la notte....affinchè ascendano i popoli per essi.
21 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.	21 Bada dal piegare verso l'iniquità, poichè questa tu cominciasti a seguire dopo l'afflizione.
22 Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?	22 Ecco Dio è eccelso nella sua fortezza, e nessuno è a lui somigliante fra i legislatori.
23 Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?	23 Chi potrà scrutare le sue vie? o chi potrà dirgli: - Hai operato cosa iniqua? -
24 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.	24 Ricordati di magnificare l'operato di lui, che gli uomini celebrano in canto.
25 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.	25 Tutti gli uomini lo vedono, ciascuno lo scorge da lontano.
26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.	26 Ecco, Dio è grande, vince la nostra scienza, il numero degli anni suoi non si computa.
27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:	27 Egli distacca le gocce della pioggia, ed effonde le piogge a guisa di torrenti:
28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.	28 le quali profluiscono dalle nubi, che ricoprono ogni cosa al disopra.
29 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?	29 Se egli vuole estendere le nubi, quale suo padiglione,
30 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.	30 e far brillare la sua luce al disopra, pur le radici del mare egli ricopre.
31 For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.	31 Per mezzo di tali cose egli giudica i popoli, e appresta cibo a numerose genti.
32 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.	32 Nelle sue mani egli asconde la luce, e le comanda di tornar di nuovo;
33 The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.	33 di lui dà annunzio il suo tuono, [di lui] che effonde l'ira sua sull'iniquità.
