Job 36

1 Elihu also proceeded, and said,	1 És folytatta Eliú, és ezeket mondta:
2 Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.	2 »Tűrj engem még egy keveset, és megjelentem neked, mert van még mit mondanom Istenért;
3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.	3 messziről veszem tudásomat, hogy megvédjem Teremtőm igazát.
4 For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.	4 Szavaim valóban hamisság nélkül vannak, és tökéletes tudás áll helyt majd előtted.
5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.	5 Nem veti el Isten a hatalmasokat, hiszen ő is hatalmas!
6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.	6 De nem segíti a bűnösöket, és igazságot szolgáltat az elnyomottaknak;
7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.	7 nem veszi le szemét az igazról. Trónra ültet királyokat örök időkre, de azok felfuvalkodnak.
8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;	8 Amikor azonban bilincsbe vannak verve, s a nyomor kötelei tartják őket fogva,
9 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.	9 megjelenti nekik tetteiket és bűneiket: hogy erőszakot cselekedtek,
10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.	10 és megnyitja fülüket feddésének, és meghagyja, hogy térjenek meg a gonoszságtól.
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.	11 Ha meghallgatják és alávetik magukat, jólétben töltik napjaikat és dicsőségben éveiket.
12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.	12 Ha azonban nem hallgatják, belerohannak a kardba, és meghalnak dőreségükben.
13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.	13 A képmutatók és álnokok azonban kihívják Isten haragját, és nem kiáltanak Istenhez, amikor kötözve vannak,
14 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.	14 fiatal korban pusztul el a lelkük, és életük már az ifjúkorban.
15 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.	15 Megmenti a szenvedőt szenvedése által, és megnyitja fülét a szorongatással.
16 Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.	16 Téged is kiragad a szorongatás torkából; tágasság lép helyébe, szűkösség nélkül, s amit asztalodra raknak, tele lesz kövérséggel.
17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.	17 Ha kimondod akkor a gonoszra az ítéletet, ragaszkodj joghoz és igazsághoz!
18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.	18 Vigyázz, hogy az el ne csábítson bő ajándékkal, és tetemes vesztegetés meg ne hajlítson!
19 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.	19 Ne kívánd birtokolni az aranyat, és ne áhítsd a gazdagság támasztékát,
20 Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.	20 hogy az emberek el ne jöjjenek érte éjjel!
21 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.	21 Vigyázz magadra, hogy ne hajolj igaztalanságra, mert inkább ezt pártoltad, mint a nyomorúságot!
22 Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?	22 Íme, magasztos Isten az ő erejében, és nincsen hozzá hasonló tanítómester!
23 Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?	23 Ki tudná felülvizsgálni útjait? Ki mondhatja neki: ‘Igaztalanul cselekedtél?’
24 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.	24 Legyen gondod, hogy magasztald művét, amelyet megénekeltek az emberek!
25 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.	25 Mindenki látja azt, és mindegyik távolról szemléli.
26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.	26 Íme, nagy az Isten, és nem tudjuk felfogni, évei számát nem lehet kifürkészni.
27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:	27 Elvonja a vízcseppeket és szakadó záport zúdít,
28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.	28 amely ömlik a felhőkből, a mindent beborító fellegekből.
29 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?	29 Ha kiteríti a felhőket, úgy, mint a sátrát,
30 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.	30 ha villogtatja felülről fényét, s a tenger sarkait is befödi,
31 For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.	31 ezek által ítéli meg a népeket, s ad eledelt sok halandónak.
32 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.	32 Fényt rejt el kezében, és parancsot ad neki, hogy újra előjöjjön;
33 The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.	33 mesélhet arról az ő pásztora, s a nyáj is fergetege dühéről.
