1 Elihu also proceeded, and said,	1 Élihou continua et dit:
2 Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.	2 Encore un moment de patience, je veux t’instruire; j’ai plus à dire en faveur de Dieu.
3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.	3 Je veux donner raison à mon Créateur, et publier ce que je sais aussi loin que possible.
4 For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.	4 Car cette fois, ce sont des paroles qui valent, celui qui te parle est un homme entendu.
5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.	5 Comprends donc! Dieu est très fort, mais il ne méprise pas l’homme au cœur pur;
6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.	6 il ne laisse pas vivre le méchant, alors qu’il fait justice aux malheureux;
7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.	7 il ne détourne pas ses yeux des justes. S’il place des rois sur le trône, il les met pour qu’ils y restent. Mais s’ils tombent dans l’orgueil,
8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;	8 ils se retrouvent liés avec des chaînes, pris dans les cordes du malheur.
9 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.	9 Dieu leur montre alors leur conduite, et toutes ces fautes dont ils se glorifiaient.
10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.	10 Il leur donne ainsi un avertissement, un ordre de se détourner du mal.
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.	11 S’ils écoutent et le servent, leur vie s’achèvera dans le bonheur, ce seront des années plaisantes.
12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.	12 S’ils n’écoutent pas, il les envoie vers la sortie: il leur faut mourir puisqu’ils n’ont pas compris.
13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.	13 Ce sont des cœurs déloyaux: ils se rebellent au lieu de supplier quand Dieu les enchaîne;
14 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.	14 ils meurent en pleine jeunesse, leur vie s’achève après l’adolescence.
15 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.	15 Dieu sauve les pauvres par leur pauvreté, il les enseigne à travers leur misère.
16 Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.	16 Vois, il t’arrachera aux crocs de la détresse: à la place ce sera l’abondance sans limites, ta table regorgera de bonnes choses.
17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.	17 Tu feras alors le procès des méchants, entre tes mains seront la justice et le droit.
18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.	18 Ne te laisse donc pas mener par la colère, ne te laisse pas séduire par la richesse.
19 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.	19 Fais rendre compte au grand comme au sans-avoir, au puissant comme au faible.
20 Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.	20 N’écrase pas ceux qui ne te sont rien, pour mettre à leur place des gens de ta famille.
21 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.	21 Tu te garderas de dévier vers le mal, car c’est pour cela que le malheur t’a frappé.
22 Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?	22 Vois, Dieu est souverain dans sa force, quel maître pourrait l’égaler?
23 Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?	23 Qui lui fera rendre compte, et lui dira: “Tu as mal agi”?
24 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.	24 Pense donc à glorifier son œuvre, que tant d’hommes ont déjà chantée.
25 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.	25 Tout humain en a le spectacle, chacun la contemple de loin.
26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.	26 Oui, Dieu est grand, au-delà de ce qu’on en sait, quel nombre d’années! nul n’en fera le compte.
27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:	27 Il attire les gouttes d’eau, les vapeurs qui se feront pluie.
28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.	28 Les nuages déversent la pluie et la répartissent sur le monde des hommes.
29 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?	29 36:31 C’est ainsi qu’il nourrit les peuples et leur donne en très grand la nourriture.
30 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.	30 36:29 Qui comprendra le déploiement des nues, et le tonnerre qui gronde dans le ciel?
31 For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.	31 36:30 Voici qu’il déploie les nuées pour en couvrir la mer immense.
32 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.	32 Il brandit l’éclair à deux mains et lui dit où il doit frapper.
33 The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.	33 Il en avertit les bergers, tout comme le troupeau qui flaire la tempête.
