Job 36

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Elihu also proceeded, and said,	1 Elihu continua et dit:
2 Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.	2 Patiente un peu et laisse-moi t'instruire, car je n'ai pas tout dit en faveur de Dieu.
3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.	3 Je veux tirer mon savoir de très loin, pour justifier mon Créateur.
4 For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.	4 En vérité, mes paroles ignorent le mensonge, et un homme d'une science accomplie est près de toi.
5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.	5 Dieu ne rejette pas l'homme au coeur pur,
6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.	6 il ne laisse pas vivre le méchant en pleine force. Il rend justice aux pauvres,
7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.	7 fait prévaloir les droits du juste. Lorsqu'il élève des rois au trône et que s'exaltent ceux qui siègent pourtoujours,
8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;	8 alors il les lie avec des chaînes, ils sont pris dans les liens de l'affliction.
9 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.	9 Il les éclaire sur leurs actes, sur les fautes d'orgueil qu'ils ont commises.
10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.	10 A leurs oreilles il fait entendre un avertissement, leur ordonne de se détourner du mal.
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.	11 S'ils écoutent et se montrent dociles, leurs jours s'achèvent dans le bonheur et leurs années dans lesdélices.
12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.	12 Sinon, ils passent par le Canal et ils périssent en insensés.
13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.	13 Oui, les endurcis, qui gardent leur colère et ne crient pas à l'aide quand il les enchaîne,
14 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.	14 meurent en pleine jeunesse et leur vie est méprisée.
15 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.	15 Mais il sauve le pauvre par sa pauvreté, il l'avertit dans sa misère.
16 Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.	16 Toi aussi, il veut t'arracher à l'angoisse. Tandis que tu jouissais d'une abondance sans restriction etque la graisse débordait sur ta table,
17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.	17 tu n'instruisais pas le procès des méchants, et ne faisais pas droit à l'orphelin.
18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.	18 Prends garde d'être séduit par l'abondance, corrompu par de riches présents.
19 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.	19 Fais comparaître le grand comme l'homme sans or, l'homme au bras puissant comme le faible.
20 Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.	20 N'écrase pas ceux qui te sont étrangers pour mettre à leur place ta parenté.
21 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.	21 Garde-toi de te porter vers l'injustice, car c'est pour cela que l'affliction t'éprouve.
22 Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?	22 Vois, Dieu est sublime par sa force et quel maître lui comparer?
23 Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?	23 Qui lui a indiqué la voie à suivre, qui oserait lui dire: "Tu as commis l'injustice?"
24 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.	24 Songe plutôt à magnifier son oeuvre, que l'homme a célébrée par des cantiques.
25 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.	25 C'est un spectacle offert à tous, à distance l'homme la regarde.
26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.	26 Oui, Dieu est si grand qu'il dépasse notre science, et le nombre de ses ans reste incalculable.
27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:	27 C'est lui qui réduit les gouttes d'eau, pulvérise la pluie en brouillard.
28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.	28 Et les nuages déversent celle-ci, la font ruisseler sur la foule humaine.
29 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?	29 Qui comprendra encore les déploiements de sa nuée, le grondement menaçant de sa tente?
30 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.	30 Il répand un brouillard devant lui, couvre les sommets des montagnes.
31 For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.	31 Par eux il sustente les peuples, leur donne la nourriture en abondance.
32 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.	32 A pleines mains, il soulève l'éclair et lui fixe le but à atteindre.
33 The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.	33 Son fracas en annonce la venue, la colère s'enflamme contre l'iniquité.
