1 Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?	1 Perché l'Onnipotente non si riserva i suoi tempi e i suoi fedeli non vedono quei giorni?
2 Some remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed thereof.	2 I malvagi spostano i confini, rubano le greggi e le guidano al pascolo.
3 They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow's ox for a pledge.	3 Portano via l'asino degli orfani e prendono in pegno il bue della vedova.
4 They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.	4 Spingono i poveri fuori strada; tutti i miseri del paese sono costretti a nascondersi.
5 Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children.	5 Eccoli, simili agli onagri del deserto, escono al lavoro; di buon mattino vanno in cerca di nutrimento; la steppa offre loro cibo per i figli.
6 They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked.	6 Mietono nel campo che non è loro e racimolano la vigna del malvagio.
7 They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold.	7 Passan la notte nudi, non avendo di che vestirsi, non hanno da coprirsi contro il freddo.
8 They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.	8 Inzuppati dall'acqua dei monti, per mancanza di riparo, si stringono contro le rocce.
9 They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor.	9 Spogliano fin dal seno materno gli orfani, e prendono in pegno ciò che copre il povero.
10 They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the sheaf from the hungry;	10 Se ne vanno nudi, senza vesti, e affamati portano i covoni.
11 Which make oil within their walls, and tread their winepresses, and suffer thirst.	11 Tra le due mole spremono l'olio, pigiano l'uva e hanno sete.
12 Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.	12 Dalla città sale il gemito dei moribondi e i feriti chiedono aiuto, ma Dio non presta attenzione alla preghiera.
13 They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.	13 Altri si ribellano alla luce; non ne conoscono le vie e non ne frequentano i sentieri.
14 The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.	14 Avanti il giorno si leva l'assassino per uccidere il povero e l'indigente; e nella notte si aggira come un ladro,
15 The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.	15 mettendosi un velo sulla faccia. L'occhio dell'adultero spia il crepuscolo, pensando: "Nessun occhio mi osserva".
16 In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light.	16 Nelle tenebre irrompono nelle case; di giorno se ne stanno nascosti, non vogliono saperne della luce.
17 For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death.	17 Certo, per tutti costoro l'alba è oscura; quando si fa giorno, provano i terrori delle tenebre.
18 He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards.	18 Fuggono veloci sulla superficie dell'acqua; maledetta è la loro porzione di campo sulla terra, non prendono più il cammino della loro vigna.
19 Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned.	19 Come la siccità e il calore assorbono l'acqua delle nevi, così fanno gli inferi con il peccatore.
20 The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.	20 Lo dimentica il seno materno, lo degustano i vermi; non se ne conserva la memoria, è troncata come un albero l'iniquità.
21 He evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: and doeth not good to the widow.	21 Perché maltrattava la sterile senza figli e non soccorreva la vedova.
22 He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life.	22 Ma con la sua forza trascinava i potenti, e quando disperava di vivere, si alzava sano.
23 Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways.	23 Dio lo lasciava confidente e sicuro, però i suoi occhi osservavano il suo cammino.
24 They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.	24 Esaltato per breve tempo, cessa di esistere. Furono abbattuti e marciscono come tutti; furono falciati come la testa della spiga.
25 And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?	25 Non è forse così? Chi può smentirmi e ridurre a nulla le mie parole?".
