Proverbios 21

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El corazón del rey es una corriente de agua en manos del Señor: él lo dirige hacia donde quiere.	1 Like flowing water is a king's heart in Yahweh's hand; he directs it wherever he pleases.
2 Al hombre le parece que todo su camino es recto, pero el Señor pesa los corazones.	2 All actions are straight in the doer's own eyes, but it is Yahweh who weighs hearts.
3 Practicar la justicia y el derecho agrada al Señor más que los sacrificios.	3 To do what is upright and just is more pleasing to Yahweh than sacrifice.
4 Los ojos altaneros, el corazón arrogante, la luz de los malvados: todo eso es pecado.	4 Haughty eye, proud heart, lamp of the wicked, nothing but sin.
5 Los proyectos del hombre laborioso son pura ganancia, el que se precipita acaba en la indigencia.	5 The hardworking is thoughtful, and al is gain; too much haste, and all that comes of it is want.
6 Tesoros adquiridos con engaños son ilusión fugaz de los que buscan la muerte.	6 To make a fortune with the help of a lying tongue: such is the idle fantasy of those who look for death.
7 La rapiña de los malvados los arrastra a ellos mismos, porque se niegan a practicar el derecho.	7 The violence of the wicked proves their ruin, for they refuse to do what is right.
8 Tortuoso es el camino del criminal, pero el que es puro obra con rectitud.	8 The way of the felon is devious, the conduct of the innocent straight.
9 Más vale habitar en un rincón del techo que compartir la casa con una mujer pendenciera.	9 Better the corner of a roof to live on than a house shared with a quarrelsome woman.
10 El alma del malvado desea el mal, él no se apiada de su prójimo.	10 The soul of the wicked is intent on evil, to such a person no neighbour can ever do right.
11 El simple se hace sabio cuando se castiga al insolente, y asimila la ciencia cuando se instruye al sabio.	11 When a cynic is punished, simpletons grow wiser, but someone of understanding acquires knowledgeby instruction.
12 El justo observa la casa del malvado, y precipita en la desgracia a los malos.	12 The Upright One watches the house of the wicked; he hurls the wicked to destruction.
13 El que cierra los oídos al clamor del débil llamará y no se le responderá.	13 Whoever refuses to listen to the cry of the weak, wil in turn plead and not be heard.
14 Un reglo hecho a escondidas aplaca la ira y un obsequio bajo cuerda, la furia violenta.	14 Anger is mol ified by a covert gift, raging fury by a present under cover of the cloak.
15 Practicar la justicia es una alegría para el justo, pero es una calamidad para los malhechores.	15 Doing what is right fills the upright with joy, but evil-doers with terror.
16 El que se extravía del camino de la prudencia descansará en la Asamblea de las Sombras.	16 Whoever strays far from the way of prudence wil rest in the assembly of shadows.
17 El que ama el placer termina en la indigencia, el que ama el vino y la buena vida no se enriquecerá.	17 Pleasure-lovers stay poor, no one wil grow rich who loves wine and good living.
18 El malvado servirá de rescate por el justo y el traidor, por los hombres rectos.	18 The wicked is a ransom for the upright; and the law-breaker for the honest.
19 Más vale habitar en un país desierto que con una mujer pendenciera y de mal genio.	19 Better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and irritable woman.
20 En la morada del sabio hay tesoros preciosos y perfume, pero el necio se los devora.	20 The wise has valuables and oil at home, but a fool soon runs through both.
21 El que va tras la justicia y la fidelidad encontrará vida, justicia y honor.	21 Whoever pursues uprightness and faithful love will find life, uprightness and honour.
22 El sabio toma por asalto una ciudad de valientes, y abate la fuerza en que ella confiaba.	22 A sage can scale a garrisoned city and shatter the rampart on which it relied.
23 El que guarda su boca y su lengua guarda su vida de las angustias.	23 Watch kept over mouth and tongue keeps the watcher safe from disaster.
24 Insolente se lama al arrogante y altanero que actúa con excesiva soberbia.	24 Insolent, haughty -- the name is 'Cynic'; overweening pride marks such behaviour.
25 El deseo mata al perezoso, porque sus manos se niegan a trabajar.	25 The idler's desires are the death of him, since his hands wil do no work.
26 El malvado ambiciona todo el día, pero el justo da sin rehusar jamás.	26 Al day long the godless is racked by desire, the upright gives without ever refusing.
27 El sacrificio de los malvados es una abominación, ¡cuánto más si se lo ofrece con infamia!	27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent, above al if it is offered for bad motives.
28 El testigo mentiroso perecerá, pero el hombre que escucha, siempre podrá hablar.	28 The false witness wil perish, but no one who knows how to listen wil ever be silenced.
29 El malvado se muestra atrevido, pero el que es recto afianza su camino.	29 The wicked man's strength shows on his face, but the honest it is whose steps are firm.
30 No hay sabiduría, ni inteligencia, ni consejo delante del Señor.	30 No wisdom, no understanding, no advice is worth anything before Yahweh.
31 Se equipa el caballo para el día del combate, pero la victoria pertenece al Señor.	31 Fit out the cavalry for the day of battle, but the victory is Yahweh's.
