| 2 Mosser guerra a Bara re de' Sodomiti, e a Bersa re di Gomorra, e a Sennaab re di Adama, e a Semeber re di Seboim, e al re di Bala; la quale è Segor. | 2 these kings made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar). |
| 3 Tutti questi si raunarono nella valle de' Boschi, che è adesso il mar salato. | 3 And all these joined forces in the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea). |

| 7 E (i re) tornando indietro giunsero alla fontana di Misphat, che è lo stesso che Cades: e devastarono tutto il paese degli Amaleciti, e degli Amorrei, che abitavano in Asasonthamar. | 7 then they turned back and came to Enmishpat (that is, Kadesh), and subdued all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who dwelt in Hazazon-tamar. |

| 9 Vale a dire contro Chodorlahomor re degli Elamiti, e Thadal re delle Genti, e Amraphel re di Sennaar, e Arioch re di Ponto: quattro regi contro cinque. | 9 with Ched-or-laomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar, four kings against five. |
| 10 E la valle de' Boschi avea molti pezzi di bitume. Or i re di Sodoma e di Gomorrha voltaron le spalle, e vi fu fatta la strage: e quei che salvaron la vita, fuggirono alla montagna. | 10 Now the Valley of Siddim was full of bitumen pits; and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some fell into them, and the rest fled to the mountain. |
| 11 E (i vincitori) presero tutte le ricchezze di Sodoma, e di Gomorrha, e tutti i viveri, e se n'andarono. | 11 So the enemy took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and went their way; |
| 12 E (presero) anche con tutto quello che aveva, il figliuolo del fratello di Abramo Lot, che abitava in Sodoma. | 12 they also took Lot, the son of Abram's brother, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed. |
| 13 Ed ecco uno de' fuggitivi ne portò la nuova ad Abramo Ebreo, il quale abitava nella valle di Mambre Amorrheo, fratello di Escol, e di Aner; perocché questi avean fatto lega con Abramo. | 13 Then one who had escaped came, and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner; these were allies of Abram. |
| 14 Abramo adunque avendo udito, come era stato fatto prigioniero Lot suo fratello, scelse tra' suoi servi trecento diciotto uomini i più lesti; e tenne dietro a' nemici fino a Dan. | 14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan. |
| 15 E divise le schiere, gli assalì di notte tempo: e gli sbaragliò, e gl'inseguì sino ad Hoba, che è alla sinistra di Damasco. | 15 And he divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and routed them and pursued them to Hobah, north of Damascus. |
| 16 E ricuperò tutte le ricchezze, e Lot suo fratello con tutta la roba di lui, ed anche le donne, e il popolo. | 16 Then he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his kinsman Lot with his goods, and the women and the people. |
| 17 E andogli incontro nella valle di Save (che è la valle del re) il re di Sodoma, quand'ei tornava dalla rotta di Chodorlahomor, e de' re suoi confederati. | 17 After his return from the defeat of Ched-or-laomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley). |
| 18 Ma Melchisedec re di Salem, messo fuora del pane e del vino: perocché egli era sacerdote di Dio Altissimo: | 18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was priest of God Most High. |
| 19 Lo benedisse, dicendo: Benedetto Abramo dall'altissimo Dio, che creò il cielo, e la terra: | 19 And he blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, maker of heaven and earth; |
| 20 E benedetto l'altissimo Dio, per la cui protezione sono stati dati in poter tuo i nemici. E (Abramo) diede a lui le decime di tutte le cose. | 20 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!" And Abram gave him a tenth of everything. |
| 21 E il re di Sodoma disse ad Abramo: Dammi gli uomini: tutto il resto tienlo per te. | 21 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, "Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself." |
| 22 Quegli rispose a lui: Alzo la mano mia al Signore Dio altissimo, padrone del cielo e della terra, | 22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have sworn to the LORD God Most High, maker of heaven and earth, |
| 23 Che né un filo di ripieno, né una correggia di scarpa io prenderò di tutto quello che è tuo, perché tu non dica: Ho fatto ricco Abramo: | 23 that I would not take a thread or a sandal-thong or anything that is yours, lest you should say, 'I have made Abram rich.' |
| 24 Eccettuato quello che hanno mangiato i giovani, e le porzioni di questi uomini, che son venuti meco, Aner, Escol, e Mambre: questi avranno ognuno la sua parte. | 24 I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me; let Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre take their share." |
