Deuteronomio 12

1 Queste sono le leggi e le norme, che avrete cura di mettere in pratica nel paese che il Signore, Dio dei tuoi padri, ti dà perché tu lo possegga finché vivrete sulla terra.	1 “These are the precepts and judgments which you must do in the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, will give to you, so that you may possess it during all the days that you shall walk upon the soil.
2 Distruggerete completamente tutti i luoghi, dove le nazioni che state per scacciare servono i loro dèi: sugli alti monti, sui colli e sotto ogni albero verde.	2 Overturn all the places where the nations, which you will possess, worshipped their gods on lofty mountains, and on hills, and under every leafy tree.
3 Demolirete i loro altari, spezzerete le loro stele, taglierete i loro pali sacri, brucerete nel fuoco le statue dei loro dèi e cancellerete il loro nome da quei luoghi.	3 Scatter their altars and break their statues. Burn their sacred groves with fire and crush their idols. Abolish their names from those places.
4 Non così farete rispetto al Signore vostro Dio,	4 But you shall not do the same to the Lord your God.
5 ma lo cercherete nella sua dimora, nel luogo che il Signore vostro Dio avrà scelto fra tutte le vostre tribù, per stabilirvi il suo nome; là andrete.	5 Instead, you shall approach the place which the Lord your God will choose among all your tribes, so that he may set his name there, and may dwell in that place.
6 Là presenterete i vostri olocausti e i vostri sacrifici, le vostre decime, quello che le vostre mani avranno prelevato, le vostre offerte votive e le vostre offerte volontarie e i primogeniti del vostro bestiame grosso e minuto;	6 And you shall offer, in that place, your holocausts and victims, the tithes and first-fruits of your hands, and your vows and gifts, the firstborn of the cattle and of the sheep.
7 mangerete davanti al Signore vostro Dio e gioirete voi e le vostre famiglie di tutto ciò a cui avrete posto mano e in cui il Signore vostro Dio vi avrà benedetti.	7 And you shall eat it there, in the sight of the Lord your God. And you shall rejoice in all the things to which you shall set your hand: you and your household, which the Lord your God has blessed for you.
8 Non farete come facciamo oggi qui, dove ognuno fa quanto gli sembra bene,	8 You shall not do there the things that we are doing here today: each one doing what seems good to himself.
9 perché ancora non siete giunti al luogo del riposo e nel possesso che il Signore vostro Dio sta per darvi.	9 For even until the present time, you did not arrive at the rest and the possession, which the Lord your God will give to you.
10 Ma quando avrete passato il Giordano e abiterete nel paese che il Signore vostro Dio vi dà in eredità ed egli vi avrà messo al sicuro da tutti i vostri nemici che vi circondano e abiterete tranquilli,	10 You shall cross over the Jordan, and you shall live in the land which the Lord your God will give to you, so that you may have rest from all the surrounding enemies, and so that you may live without any fear,
11 allora, presenterete al luogo che il Signore vostro Dio avrà scelto per fissarvi la sede del suo nome, quanto vi comando: i vostri olocausti e i vostri sacrifici, le vostre decime, quello che le vostre mani avranno prelevato e tutte le offerte scelte che avrete votate al Signore.	11 in the place which the Lord your God will choose, so that his name may be in it. To that place, you shall bring all the things that I instruct you: holocausts, and victims, and tithes, and the first-fruits of your hands, and whatever is best among the gifts that you shall vow to the Lord.
12 Gioirete davanti al Signore vostro Dio voi, i vostri figli, le vostre figlie, i vostri schiavi, le vostre schiave e il levita che abiterà le vostre città, perché non ha né parte, né eredità in mezzo a voi.	12 In that place, you shall feast before the Lord your God: you, and your sons and daughters, your men and women servants, as well as the Levite who dwells in your cities. For he has no other portion or possession among you.
13 Allora ti guarderai bene dall'offrire i tuoi olocausti in qualunque luogo avrai visto;	13 Take care that you do not offer your holocausts in any place that you see.
14 ma offrirai i tuoi olocausti nel luogo che il Signore avrà scelto in una delle tue tribù; là farai quanto ti comando.	14 Instead, you shall offer sacrifices in the place which the Lord will choose within one of your tribes, and you shall do whatsoever I instruct you.
15 Ma, ogni volta che ne sentirai desiderio, potrai uccidere animali e mangiarne la carne in tutte le tue città, secondo la benedizione che il Signore ti avrà elargito; chi sarà immondo e chi sarà mondo ne potranno mangiare, come si fa della carne di gazzella e di cervo;	15 So, if you wish to eat, and if the eating of flesh pleases you, then kill and eat according to the blessing of the Lord your God, which he has given to you, in your cities: you may eat it whether it is unclean, that is, having blemish or defect, or whether it is clean, that is, whole and without blemish, of the kind which is permitted to be offered, such as the roe deer and the stag.
16 ma non ne mangerete il sangue; lo spargerai per terra come acqua.	16 Only the blood you shall not eat. Instead, you shall pour it upon the ground like water.
17 Non potrai mangiare entro le tue città le decime del tuo frumento, del tuo mosto, del tuo olio, né i primogeniti del tuo bestiame grosso e minuto, né ciò che avrai consacrato per voto, né le tue offerte volontarie, né quello che le tue mani avranno prelevato:	17 You may not eat in your towns the tithes of your crops, and your wine and oil, the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, nor anything which you will vow, or which you will offer spontaneously, nor the first-fruits of your hands.
18 tali cose mangerai davanti al Signore tuo Dio nel luogo che il Signore tuo Dio avrà scelto: tu, il tuo figlio, la tua figlia, il tuo schiavo, la tua schiava e il levita che sarà entro le tue città; gioirai davanti al Signore tuo Dio di ogni cosa a cui avrai messo mano.	18 But you shall eat these before the Lord your God, in the place which the Lord your God will choose: you, and your son, and your daughter, and your man servant and woman servant, and the Levite who dwells in your cities. And you shall rejoice and be refreshed in the sight of the Lord your God by all the things to which you will extend your hand.
19 Guardati bene, finché vivrai nel tuo paese, dall'abbandonare il levita.	19 Be careful, lest you abandon the Levite, at anytime while you are living in the land.
20 Quando il Signore, tuo Dio, avrà allargato i tuoi confini, come ti ha promesso, e tu, desiderando di mangiare la carne, dirai: Vorrei mangiare la carne, potrai mangiare carne a tuo piacere.	20 When the Lord your God will have enlarged your borders, just as he has spoken to you, and when you would eat the flesh that your soul desires,
21 Se il luogo che il Signore tuo Dio avrà scelto per stabilirvi il suo nome sarà lontano da te, potrai ammazzare bestiame grosso e minuto che il Signore ti avrà dato, come ti ho prescritto; potrai mangiare entro le tue città a tuo piacere.	21 but if the place which the Lord your God will choose, so that his name may be there, is far away, you may kill, from your herds and your flocks which you will have, in the manner I have instructed to you, and you may eat in your towns, as it pleases you.
22 Soltanto ne mangerete come si mangia la carne di gazzella e di cervo; ne potrà mangiare chi sarà immondo e chi sarà mondo;	22 Just as the roe deer and the stag may be eaten, so also may you eat these: you may eat both the clean and the unclean alike.
23 tuttavia astieniti dal mangiare il sangue, perché il sangue è la vita; tu non devi mangiare la vita insieme con la carne.	23 Only beware of this: you may not eat the blood. For their blood is for the soul. And because of this, you must not eat the soul with the flesh.
24 Non lo mangerai, lo spargerai per terra come acqua.	24 Instead, you shall pour it upon the ground like water,
25 Non lo mangerai perché sia felice tu e i tuoi figli dopo di te: facendo ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore.	25 so that it may be well with you, and with your sons after you, when you will do what is pleasing in the sight of the Lord.
26 Ma quanto alle cose che avrai consacrate o promesse in voto, le prenderai e andrai al luogo che il Signore avrà scelto e offrirai i tuoi olocausti,	26 But the things that you have sanctified and vowed to the Lord, you shall take up and bring to the place which the Lord will choose.
27 la carne e il sangue, sull'altare del Signore tuo Dio; il sangue delle altre tue vittime dovrà essere sparso sull'altare del Signore tuo Dio e tu ne mangerai la carne.	27 And you shall offer your oblations of flesh and of blood upon the altar of the Lord your God. You shall poor out the blood of your victims upon the altar. And you yourself shall eat the flesh.
28 Osserva e ascolta tutte queste cose che ti comando, perché tu sia sempre felice tu e i tuoi figli dopo di te, quando avrai fatto ciò che è bene e retto agli occhi del Signore tuo Dio.	28 Observe and heed all the things that I instruct to you, so that it may be well with you, and with your sons after you, continually, when you will do what is good and pleasing in the sight of the Lord your God.
29 Quando il Signore tuo Dio avrà distrutto davanti a te le nazioni che tu stai per prendere in possesso, quando le avrai conquistate e ti sarai stanziato nel loro paese,	29 When the Lord your God will have abolished before your face the nations, which you shall enter so as to possess them, and when you will possess them and live in their land,
30 guardati bene dal lasciarti ingannare seguendo il loro esempio, dopo che saranno state distrutte davanti a te, e dal cercare i loro dèi, dicendo: Queste nazioni come servivano i loro dèi? Voglio fare così anch'io.	30 be careful that you do not imitate them, after they have been overturned at your arrival, and that you do not seek their ceremonies, saying: ‘Just as these nations have worshipped their gods, so also will I worship.’
31 Non ti comporterai in tal modo riguardo al Signore tuo Dio; perché esse facevano per i loro dèi quanto è abominevole per il Signore e che Egli detesta; bruciavano nel fuoco perfino i loro figli e le loro figlie, in onore dei loro dèi.	31 You shall not act in like manner toward the Lord your God. For they have done to their gods all the abominations that the Lord spurns, offering their sons and daughters, and burning them with fire.
	32 What I command to you, this only shall you do, for the Lord. You may neither add nor subtract anything.”
