Deuteronomio 12

1 Queste sono le leggi e le norme, che avrete cura di mettere in pratica nel paese che il Signore, Dio dei tuoi padri, ti dà perché tu lo possegga finché vivrete sulla terra.	1 "These are the statutes and decrees which you must be careful to observe in the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you to occupy, as long as you live on its soil.
2 Distruggerete completamente tutti i luoghi, dove le nazioni che state per scacciare servono i loro dèi: sugli alti monti, sui colli e sotto ogni albero verde.	2 Destroy without fail every place on the high mountains, on the hills, and under every leafy tree where the nations you are to dispossess worship their gods.
3 Demolirete i loro altari, spezzerete le loro stele, taglierete i loro pali sacri, brucerete nel fuoco le statue dei loro dèi e cancellerete il loro nome da quei luoghi.	3 Tear down their altars, smash their sacred pillars, destroy by fire their sacred poles, and shatter the idols of their gods, that you may stamp out the remembrance of them in any such place.
4 Non così farete rispetto al Signore vostro Dio,	4 "That is not how you are to worship the LORD, your God.
5 ma lo cercherete nella sua dimora, nel luogo che il Signore vostro Dio avrà scelto fra tutte le vostre tribù, per stabilirvi il suo nome; là andrete.	5 Instead, you shall resort to the place which the LORD, your God, chooses out of all your tribes and designates as his dwelling
6 Là presenterete i vostri olocausti e i vostri sacrifici, le vostre decime, quello che le vostre mani avranno prelevato, le vostre offerte votive e le vostre offerte volontarie e i primogeniti del vostro bestiame grosso e minuto;	6 and there you shall bring your holocausts and sacrifices, your tithes and personal contributions, your votive and freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and flocks.
7 mangerete davanti al Signore vostro Dio e gioirete voi e le vostre famiglie di tutto ciò a cui avrete posto mano e in cui il Signore vostro Dio vi avrà benedetti.	7 There, too, before the LORD, your God, you and your families shall eat and make merry over all your undertakings, because the LORD, your God, has blessed you.
8 Non farete come facciamo oggi qui, dove ognuno fa quanto gli sembra bene,	8 You shall not do as we are now doing; here, everyone does what seems right to himself,
9 perché ancora non siete giunti al luogo del riposo e nel possesso che il Signore vostro Dio sta per darvi.	9 since you have not yet reached your resting place, the heritage which the LORD, your God, will give you.
10 Ma quando avrete passato il Giordano e abiterete nel paese che il Signore vostro Dio vi dà in eredità ed egli vi avrà messo al sicuro da tutti i vostri nemici che vi circondano e abiterete tranquilli,	10 But after you have crossed the Jordan and dwell in the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you as a heritage, when he has given you rest from all your enemies round about and you live there in security,
11 allora, presenterete al luogo che il Signore vostro Dio avrà scelto per fissarvi la sede del suo nome, quanto vi comando: i vostri olocausti e i vostri sacrifici, le vostre decime, quello che le vostre mani avranno prelevato e tutte le offerte scelte che avrete votate al Signore.	11 then to the place which the LORD, your God, chooses as the dwelling place for his name you shall bring all the offerings I command you: your holocausts and sacrifices, your tithes and personal contributions, and every special offering you have vowed to the LORD.
12 Gioirete davanti al Signore vostro Dio voi, i vostri figli, le vostre figlie, i vostri schiavi, le vostre schiave e il levita che abiterà le vostre città, perché non ha né parte, né eredità in mezzo a voi.	12 You shall make merry before the LORD, your God, with your sons and daughters, your male and female slaves, as well as with the Levite who belongs to your community but has no share of his own in your heritage.
13 Allora ti guarderai bene dall'offrire i tuoi olocausti in qualunque luogo avrai visto;	13 Take care not to offer up your holocausts in any place you fancy,
14 ma offrirai i tuoi olocausti nel luogo che il Signore avrà scelto in una delle tue tribù; là farai quanto ti comando.	14 but offer them up in the place which the LORD chooses from among your tribes; there you shall make whatever offerings I enjoin upon you.
15 Ma, ogni volta che ne sentirai desiderio, potrai uccidere animali e mangiarne la carne in tutte le tue città, secondo la benedizione che il Signore ti avrà elargito; chi sarà immondo e chi sarà mondo ne potranno mangiare, come si fa della carne di gazzella e di cervo;	15 "However, in any of your communities you may slaughter and eat to your heart's desire as much meat as the LORD, your God, has blessed you with; and the unclean as well as the clean may eat it, as they do the gazelle or the deer.
16 ma non ne mangerete il sangue; lo spargerai per terra come acqua.	16 Only, you shall not partake of the blood, but must pour it out on the ground like water.
17 Non potrai mangiare entro le tue città le decime del tuo frumento, del tuo mosto, del tuo olio, né i primogeniti del tuo bestiame grosso e minuto, né ciò che avrai consacrato per voto, né le tue offerte volontarie, né quello che le tue mani avranno prelevato:	17 Moreover, you shall not, in your own communities, partake of your tithe of grain or wine or oil, of the first-born of your herd or flock, of any offering you have vowed, of your freewill offerings, or of your personal contributions.
18 tali cose mangerai davanti al Signore tuo Dio nel luogo che il Signore tuo Dio avrà scelto: tu, il tuo figlio, la tua figlia, il tuo schiavo, la tua schiava e il levita che sarà entro le tue città; gioirai davanti al Signore tuo Dio di ogni cosa a cui avrai messo mano.	18 These you must eat before the LORD, your God, in the place he chooses, along with your son and daughter, your male and female slave, and the Levite who belongs to your community; and there, before the LORD, you shall make merry over all your undertakings.
19 Guardati bene, finché vivrai nel tuo paese, dall'abbandonare il levita.	19 Take care, also, that you do not neglect the Levite as long as you live in the land.
20 Quando il Signore, tuo Dio, avrà allargato i tuoi confini, come ti ha promesso, e tu, desiderando di mangiare la carne, dirai: Vorrei mangiare la carne, potrai mangiare carne a tuo piacere.	20 "After the LORD, your God, has enlarged your territory, as he promised you, when you wish meat for food, you may eat it at will, to your heart's desire;
21 Se il luogo che il Signore tuo Dio avrà scelto per stabilirvi il suo nome sarà lontano da te, potrai ammazzare bestiame grosso e minuto che il Signore ti avrà dato, come ti ho prescritto; potrai mangiare entro le tue città a tuo piacere.	21 and if the place which the LORD, your God, chooses for the abode of his name is too far, you may slaughter in the manner I have told you any of your herd or flock that the LORD has given you, and eat it to your heart's desire in your own community.
22 Soltanto ne mangerete come si mangia la carne di gazzella e di cervo; ne potrà mangiare chi sarà immondo e chi sarà mondo;	22 You may eat it as you would the gazelle or the deer: the unclean and the clean eating it alike.
23 tuttavia astieniti dal mangiare il sangue, perché il sangue è la vita; tu non devi mangiare la vita insieme con la carne.	23 But make sure that you do not partake of the blood; for blood is life, and you shall not consume this seat of life with the flesh.
24 Non lo mangerai, lo spargerai per terra come acqua.	24 Do not partake of the blood, therefore, but pour it out on the ground like water.
25 Non lo mangerai perché sia felice tu e i tuoi figli dopo di te: facendo ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore.	25 Abstain from it, that you and your children after you may prosper for doing what is right in the sight of the LORD.
26 Ma quanto alle cose che avrai consacrate o promesse in voto, le prenderai e andrai al luogo che il Signore avrà scelto e offrirai i tuoi olocausti,	26 However, any sacred gifts or votive offerings that you may have, you shall bring with you to the place which the LORD chooses,
27 la carne e il sangue, sull'altare del Signore tuo Dio; il sangue delle altre tue vittime dovrà essere sparso sull'altare del Signore tuo Dio e tu ne mangerai la carne.	27 and there you must offer both the flesh and the blood of your holocausts on the altar of the LORD, your God; of your other sacrifices the blood indeed must be poured out against the altar of the LORD, your God, but their flesh may be eaten.
28 Osserva e ascolta tutte queste cose che ti comando, perché tu sia sempre felice tu e i tuoi figli dopo di te, quando avrai fatto ciò che è bene e retto agli occhi del Signore tuo Dio.	28 Be careful to heed all these commandments I enjoin on you, that you and your descendants may always prosper for doing what is good and right in the sight of the LORD, your God.
29 Quando il Signore tuo Dio avrà distrutto davanti a te le nazioni che tu stai per prendere in possesso, quando le avrai conquistate e ti sarai stanziato nel loro paese,	29 "When the LORD, your God, removes the nations from your way as you advance to dispossess them, be on your guard! Otherwise, once they have been wiped out before you and you have replaced them and are settled in their land,
30 guardati bene dal lasciarti ingannare seguendo il loro esempio, dopo che saranno state distrutte davanti a te, e dal cercare i loro dèi, dicendo: Queste nazioni come servivano i loro dèi? Voglio fare così anch'io.	30 you will be lured into following them. Do not inquire regarding their gods, 'How did these nations worship their gods? I, too, would do the same.'
31 Non ti comporterai in tal modo riguardo al Signore tuo Dio; perché esse facevano per i loro dèi quanto è abominevole per il Signore e che Egli detesta; bruciavano nel fuoco perfino i loro figli e le loro figlie, in onore dei loro dèi.	31 You shall not thus worship the LORD, your God, because they offered to their gods every abomination that the LORD detests, even burning their sons and daughters to their gods.
