Amos 2

1 Così dice il Signore: "Per tre misfatti di Moab e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto, perché ha bruciato le ossa del re di Edom per ridurle in calce;	1 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Moab, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has burned the bones of the king of Idumea, all the way to ashes.
2 appiccherò il fuoco a Moab e divorerà i palazzi di Keriòt e Moab morirà nel tumulto, al grido di guerra, al suono del corno;	2 And I will send a fire onto Moab, and it will devour the buildings of Kerioth. And Moab will die with a noise, with the blare of a trumpet.
3 farò sparire da lui il giudice e tutti i suoi capi ucciderò insieme con lui", dice il Signore.	3 And I will destroy the judge in their midst, and I will execute all his leaders with him, says the Lord.
4 Così dice il Signore: "Per tre misfatti di Giuda e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto, perché hanno disprezzato la legge del Signore e non ne hanno osservato i decreti; si son lasciati traviare dai loro idoli che i loro padri avevano seguito;	4 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Judah, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has rejected the law of the Lord and has not kept his commandments. For their idols, which their fathers followed, have deceived them.
5 appiccherò il fuoco a Giuda e divorerà i palazzi di Gerusalemme".	5 And I will send a fire onto Judah, and it will devour the buildings of Jerusalem.
6 Così dice il Signore: "Per tre misfatti d'Israele e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto, perché hanno venduto il giusto per denaro e il povero per un paio di sandali;	6 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Israel, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has sold the just for silver and the poor for shoes.
7 essi che calpestano come la polvere della terra la testa dei poveri e fanno deviare il cammino dei miseri; e padre e figlio vanno dalla stessa ragazza, profanando così il mio santo nome.	7 They grind the heads of the poor into the dust of the earth, and they divert the way of the humble. And the son, as well as his father, have gone to the same girl, so that they outrage my holy name.
8 Su vesti prese come pegno si stendono presso ogni altare e bevono il vino confiscato come ammenda nella casa del loro Dio.	8 And they have lain on garments taken in pledge next to every altar. And they drank the wine of the damned in the house of their God.
9 Eppure io ho sterminato davanti a loro l'Amorreo, la cui statura era come quella dei cedri, e la forza come quella della quercia; ho strappato i suoi frutti in alto e le sue radici di sotto.	9 Yet I exterminated the Amorites before their face, whose height was like the height of cedars, and whose strength was like the oak. And I crushed his fruit from above and his roots below.
10 Io vi ho fatti uscire dal paese di Egitto e vi ho condotti per quarant'anni nel deserto, per darvi in possesso il paese dell'Amorreo.	10 It is I who caused you to ascend from the land of Egypt, and I led you in the wilderness for forty years, so that you might possess the land of the Amorite.
11 Ho fatto sorgere profeti tra i vostri figli e nazirei fra i vostri giovani. Non è forse così, o Israeliti?". Oracolo del Signore.	11 And I stirred up prophets from your sons, and Nazirites from your young men. Is it not so, sons of Israel, says the Lord?
12 "Ma voi avete fatto bere vino ai nazirei e ai profeti avete ordinato: Non profetate!	12 Yet you would offer wine to the Nazirites, and you would command the prophets, saying: “Do not prophesy.”
13 Ebbene, io vi affonderò nella terra come affonda un carro quando è tutto carico di paglia.	13 Behold, I will creak under you, just as a wagon creaks that is laden with hay.
14 Allora nemmeno l'uomo agile potrà più fuggire, né l'uomo forte usare la sua forza; il prode non potrà salvare la sua vita	14 And flight will perish from the swift, and the strong will not maintain his strength, and the healthy will not save his life.
15 né l'arciere resisterà; non scamperà il corridore, né si salverà il cavaliere. Il più coraggioso fra i prodi fuggirà nudo in quel giorno!". Oracolo del Signore.	15 And one holding the bow will not stand firm, and the swift of foot will not be saved, and the rider on the horse will not save his life.
	16 And the stout of heart among the strong will flee away naked in that day, says the Lord.
