Amos 2

BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Così dice il Signore: "Per tre misfatti di Moab e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto, perché ha bruciato le ossa del re di Edom per ridurle in calce;	1 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Moab, I have made my decree and will notrelent: because they have burnt the bones of the king of Edom to ash,
2 appiccherò il fuoco a Moab e divorerà i palazzi di Keriòt e Moab morirà nel tumulto, al grido di guerra, al suono del corno;	2 I shal send fire down into Moab to devour the palaces of Kerioth, and Moab will die in the tumult, amidwar cries and the blare of trumpets;
3 farò sparire da lui il giudice e tutti i suoi capi ucciderò insieme con lui", dice il Signore.	3 I shal destroy the ruler there and slaughter al the chief men there with him, says Yahweh.
4 Così dice il Signore: "Per tre misfatti di Giuda e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto, perché hanno disprezzato la legge del Signore e non ne hanno osservato i decreti; si son lasciati traviare dai loro idoli che i loro padri avevano seguito;	4 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Judah, I have made my decree and wil notrelent: because they have despised Yahweh's law and not kept his commandments, since their Falsehoods,which their ancestors followed, have led them astray,
5 appiccherò il fuoco a Giuda e divorerà i palazzi di Gerusalemme".	5 I shal send fire down on Judah to devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
6 Così dice il Signore: "Per tre misfatti d'Israele e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto, perché hanno venduto il giusto per denaro e il povero per un paio di sandali;	6 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Israel, I have made my decree and wil notrelent: because they have sold the upright for silver and the poor for a pair of sandals,
7 essi che calpestano come la polvere della terra la testa dei poveri e fanno deviare il cammino dei miseri; e padre e figlio vanno dalla stessa ragazza, profanando così il mio santo nome.	7 because they have crushed the heads of the weak into the dust and thrust the rights of the oppressedto one side, father and son sleeping with the same girl and thus profaning my holy name,
8 Su vesti prese come pegno si stendono presso ogni altare e bevono il vino confiscato come ammenda nella casa del loro Dio.	8 lying down beside every altar on clothes acquired as pledges, and drinking the wine of the people theyhave fined in the house of their god.
9 Eppure io ho sterminato davanti a loro l'Amorreo, la cui statura era come quella dei cedri, e la forza come quella della quercia; ho strappato i suoi frutti in alto e le sue radici di sotto.	9 Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, he who was as tal as the cedars, as strong as theoaks; I who destroyed his fruit above ground and his roots below.
10 Io vi ho fatti uscire dal paese di Egitto e vi ho condotti per quarant'anni nel deserto, per darvi in possesso il paese dell'Amorreo.	10 It was I who brought you up from Egypt and for forty years led you through the desert to takepossession of the Amorite's country;
11 Ho fatto sorgere profeti tra i vostri figli e nazirei fra i vostri giovani. Non è forse così, o Israeliti?". Oracolo del Signore.	11 I who raised up prophets from your sons and Nazirites from your young men. Israelites, is this nottrue? -declares Yahweh!
12 "Ma voi avete fatto bere vino ai nazirei e ai profeti avete ordinato: Non profetate!	12 But you have made the Nazirite drink wine and given orders to the prophets, 'Do not prophesy.'
13 Ebbene, io vi affonderò nella terra come affonda un carro quando è tutto carico di paglia.	13 Very wel ! Like a cart overloaded with sheaves I shall crush you where you stand;
14 Allora nemmeno l'uomo agile potrà più fuggire, né l'uomo forte usare la sua forza; il prode non potrà salvare la sua vita	14 flight wil be cut off for the swift, the strong will have no chance to exert his strength nor the warrior beable to save his life;
15 né l'arciere resisterà; non scamperà il corridore, né si salverà il cavaliere. Il più coraggioso fra i prodi fuggirà nudo in quel giorno!". Oracolo del Signore.	15 the archer wil not stand his ground, the swift of foot wil not escape, nor will the horseman save hislife;
	16 even the bravest of warriors will jettison his arms and run away, that day! -declares Yahweh!
