10 Ezéchias engendra Manassé, Manassé engendra Amon, Amon engendra Josias,	10 Hezekiah fathered Manasseh, Manasseh fathered Amon, Amon fathered Josiah;
11 Josias engendra Jéchonias et ses frères; ce fut alors la déportation à Babylone.	11 and Josiah fathered Jechoniah and his brothers. Then the deportation to Babylon took place.

16 Jacob engendra Joseph, l'époux de Marie, de laquelle naquit Jésus, que l'on appelle Christ.	16 and Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary; of her was born Jesus who is called Christ.
17 Le total des générations est donc: d'Abraham à David, quatorze générations; de David à ladéportation de Babylone, quatorze générations; de la déportation de Babylone au Christ, quatorze générations.	17 The sum of generations is therefore: fourteen from Abraham to David; fourteen from David to theBabylonian deportation; and fourteen from the Babylonian deportation to Christ.
18 Or telle fut la genèse de Jésus Christ. Marie, sa mère, était fiancée à Joseph: or, avant qu'ilseussent mené vie commune, elle se trouva enceinte par le fait de l'Esprit Saint.	18 This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before theycame to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
19 Joseph, son mari, qui était un homme juste et ne voulait pas la dénoncer publiquement, résolut dela répudier sans bruit.	19 Her husband Joseph, being an upright man and wanting to spare her disgrace, decided to divorce herinformal y.

21 elle enfantera un fils, et tu l'appelleras du nom de Jésus: car c'est lui qui sauvera son peuple de sespéchés."	21 She wil give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save hispeople from their sins.'
22 Or tout ceci advint pour que s'accomplît cet oracle prophétique du Seigneur:	22 Now al this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:
23 Voici que la vierge concevra et enfantera un fils, et on l'appellera du nom d'Emmanuel, ce qui setraduit: "Dieu avec nous."	23 Look! the virgin is with child and will give birth to a son whom they wil cal Immanuel, a name whichmeans 'God-is-with-us'.
24 Une fois réveillé, Joseph fit comme l'Ange du Seigneur lui avait prescrit: il prit chez lui safemme;	24 When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do: he took his wife to hishome;
25 et il ne la connut pas jusqu'au jour où elle enfanta un fils, et il l'appela du nom de Jésus.	25 he had not had intercourse with her when she gave birth to a son; and he named him Jesus.
