JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et à Eléazar, fils d'Aaron, le prêtre. Il dit:	1 After this plague, Yahweh spoke to Moses and to the priest Eleazar son of Aaron and said:
2 "Faites le recensement de toute la communauté des Israélites, par familles: tous ceux qui ontvingt ans et au-dessus, aptes à faire campagne en Israël."	2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites, by families: al those of twenty years and over, fitto bear arms in Israel.'
3 Moïse et Eléazar le prêtre les recensèrent donc, dans les Steppes de Moab, près du Jourdain versJéricho.	3 So Moses and the priest Eleazar took a census of them on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan byJericho. They counted
4 (Comme Yahvé l'a ordonné à Moïse et aux Israélites à leur sortie du pays d'Egypte.) Hommes devingt ans et au-dessus:	4 (as Yahweh had ordered Moses and the Israelites after leaving Egypt) men of twenty years and over:
5 Ruben, premier-né d'Israël. Les fils de Ruben: pour Hénok, le clan Hénokite; pour Pallu, le clanPalluite;	5 Reuben, the first-born of Israel. The sons of Reuben: for Hanoch, the Hanochite clan; for Pal u, thePal uite clan;
6 pour Hèçrôn, le clan Hèçronite; pour Karmi, le clan Karmite.	6 for Hezron, the Hezronite clan; for Carmi, the Carmite clan.
7 Tels étaient les clans Rubénites. Ils comprenaient 30 recensés.	7 These were the Reubenite clans. They numbered forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty men.
8 Les fils de Pallu: Eliab.	8 The sons of Pallu: Eliab.
9 Les fils d'Eliab: Nemuel, Datân et Abiram. Ce sont Datân et Abiram, hommes considérés dans lacommunauté, qui se soulevèrent contre Moïse et Aaron; ils étaient de la bande de Coré quand elle se soulevacontre Yahvé.	9 The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. These two, Dathan and Abiram, men of repute in thecommunity, were the ones who revolted against Moses and Aaron; they belonged to Korah's group when itrevolted against Yahweh.
10 La terre ouvrit sa bouche et les engloutit (ainsi que Coré, lorsque périt cette bande), lorsque lefeu consuma les 250 hommes. Ils furent un signe.	10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them (with Korah when that group perished), when fireconsumed the two hundred and fifty men. They were a sign.
11 Les fils de Coré ne périrent pas.	11 Korah's sons, however, did not perish.
12 Les fils de Siméon, par clans: pour Nemuel, le clan Nemuélite; pour Yamîn, le clan Yaminite;pour Yakîn, le clan Yakinite;	12 The sons of Simeon by clans: for Nemuel, the Nemuelite clan; for Jamin, the Jaminite clan; forJachin, the Jachinite clan;
13 pour Zérah, le clan Zarhite; pour Shaûl, le clan Shaûlite.	13 for Zerah, the Zerahite clan; for Shaul, the Shaulite clan.
14 Tels étaient les clans Siméonites. Ils comprenaient 22.200 recensés.	14 These were the Simeonite clans. They numbered twenty-two thousand two hundred men.
15 Les fils de Gad, par clans: pour Cephôn, le clan Céphonite; pour Haggi, le clan Haggite; pourShuni, le clan Shunite;	15 The sons of Gad by clans: for Zephon, the Zephonite clan; for Haggi, the Haggite clan; for Shuni, theShunite clan;

18 Tels étaient les clans des fils de Gad. Ils comprenaient 40.500 recensés.	18 These were the clans of the sons of Gad. They numbered forty thousand five hundred men.
19 Les fils de Juda: Er et Onân. Er et Onân moururent au pays de Canaan.	19 The sons of Judah: Er and Onan. Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
20 Les fils de Juda devinrent des clans: pour Shéla, le clan Shélanite; pour Pérèç, le clan Parçite;pour Zérah, le clan Zarhite.	20 The other sons of Judah became clans: for Shelah, the Shelahite clan; for Perez, the Perezzite clan;for Zerah, the Zerahite clan.
21 Les fils de Pérèç furent: pour Hèçrôn, le clan Hèçronite; pour Hamul, le clan Hamulite.	21 The sons of Perez were: for Hezron, the Hezronite clan; for Hamul, the Hamulite clan.
22 Tels étaient les clans de Juda. Ils comprenaient 76.500 recensés.	22 These were the clans of Judah. They numbered seventy-six thousand five hundred men.
23 Les fils d'Issachar, par clans: pour Tola, le clan Tolaïte; pour Puvva, le clan Puvvite;	23 The sons of Issachar by clans: for Tola, the Tolaite clan; for Puvah, the Puvahite clan;
24 pour Yashub, le clan Yashubite; pour Shimrôn, le clan Shimronite.	24 for Jashub, the Jashubite clan; for Shimron, the Shimronite clan.
25 Tels étaient les clans d'Issachar. Ils comprenaient 64.300 recensés.	25 These were the clans of Issachar. They numbered sixty-four thousand three hundred men.
26 Les fils de Zabulon, par clans: pour Séred, le clan Sardite; pour Elôn, le clan Elonite; pourYahléel, le clan Yahléélite.	26 The sons of Zebulun by clans: for Sered, the Seredite clan; for Elon, the Elonite clan; for Jahleel, theJahleelite clan.
27 Tels étaient les clans de Zabulon. Ils comprenaient 60.500 recensés.	27 These were the clans of Zebulun. They numbered sixty thousand five hundred men.
28 Les fils de Joseph, par clans: Manassé et Ephraïm.	28 The sons of Joseph by clans: Manasseh and Ephraim.

33 Celophehad, fils de Hépher, n'eut pas de fils, mais des filles; voici les noms des filles deCelophehad: Mahla, Noa, Hogla, Milka et Tirça.	33 Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons, only daughters; the names of Zelophehad's daughterswere Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.
34 Tels étaient les clans de Manassé. Ils comprenaient 52.700 recensés.	34 These were the clans of Manasseh. They numbered fifty-two thousand seven hundred men.
35 Et voici les fils d'Ephraïm, par clans: pour Shutélah, le clan Shutalhite; pour Béker, le clanBakrite; pour Tahân, le clan Tahanite.	35 These were the sons of Ephraim by clans: for Shuthelah, the Shuthelahite clan; for Becher, theBecherite clan; for Tahan, the Tahanite clan.
36 Voici les fils de Shutélah: pour Erân, le clan Eranite.	36 These were the sons of Shuthelah: for Eran, the Eranite clan.
37 Tels étaient les clans d'Ephraïm. Ils comprenaient 32.500 recensés. Tels étaient les fils deJoseph, par clans.	37 These were the clans of Ephraim. They numbered thirty-two thousand five hundred men. Thesewere the sons of Joseph by clans.
38 Les fils de Benjamin, par clans: pour Béla, le clan Baléite; pour Ashbel, le clan Ashbélite; pourAhiram, le clan Ahiramite;	38 The sons of Benjamin by clans: for Bela, the Belaite clan; for Ashbel, the Ashbelite clan; for Ahiram,the Ahiramite clan;
39 pour Shephupham, le clan Shephuphamite; pour Hupham, le clan Huphamite.	39 for Shephupham, the Shephuphamite clan; for Hupham, the Huphamite clan.
40 Béla eut pour fils Ard et Naamân: pour Ard le clan Ardite; pour Naamân, le clan Naamite.	40 Bela's sons were Ard and Naaman; for Ard, the Ardite clan; for Naaman, the Naamanite clan.
41 Tels étaient les fils de Benjamin, par clans. Ils comprenaient 45.600 recensés.	41 These were the sons of Benjamin by clans. They numbered forty-five thousand six hundred men.
42 Voici les fils de Dan, par clans: pour Shuham, le clan Shuhamite. Tels étaient les fils de Dan,par clans.	42 These were the sons of Dan by clans: for Shuham, the Shuhamite clan. These were the sons of Danby clans.
43 Tous les clans Shuhamites comprenaient 64.400 recensés.	43 All the Shuhamite clans numbered sixty-four thousand four hundred men.
44 Les fils d'Asher, par clans: pour Yimna, le clan Yimnite; pour Yishvi, le clan Yishvite; pourBéria, le clan Bériite.	44 The sons of Asher by clans: for Imnah, the Imnahite clan; for Ishvi, the Ishvihite clan; for Beriah, theBeriahite clan.

46 La fille d'Asher se nommait Sarah.	46 The daughter of Asher was called Serah.
47 Tels étaient les clans des fils d'Asher. Ils comprenaient 53.400 recensés.	47 These were the clans of Asher. They numbered fifty-three thousand four hundred men.
48 Les fils de Nephtali, par clans: pour Yahçéel, le clan Yahçéélite; pour Guni, le clan Gunite;	48 The sons of Naphtali by clans: for Jahzeel, the Jahzeelite clan; for Guni, the Gunite clan;
49 pour Yéçer, le clan Yiçrite; pour Shillem, le clan Shillémite.	49 for Jezer, the Jezerite clan; for Shil em, the Shil emite clan.
50 Tels étaient les clans de Nephtali, répartis par clans. Les fils de Nephtali comprenaient 45.400recensés.	50 These were the clans of Naphtali as divided into clans. The sons of Naphtali numbered forty-fivethousand four hundred men.
51 Les Israélites étaient donc 601.730 recensés.	51 Of the Israelites thus numbered, there were six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirtymen.
52 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:	52 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,
53 "C'est à ceux-ci que le pays sera distribué en héritage, suivant le nombre des inscrits.	53 'The country must be shared out among these as a heritage, proportionately to the number of thoseinscribed.
54 A celui qui a un grand nombre, tu donneras un grand domaine, à celui qui a un petit nombre, unpetit domaine; à chacun son héritage, en proportion du nombre de ses recensés.	54 To the large in number you wil give a large area of land, to the smal in number a small area; toeach the heritage wil be in proportion to the number registered.
55 Toutefois, c'est le sort qui fera le partage du pays. Selon le nombre des noms dans les tribuspatriarcales, on recevra son héritage;	55 The sharing out of the country must, however, be done by lot. Each wil receive a heritageproportionate to the number of names in their patriarchal tribes;
56 l'héritage de chaque tribu sera réparti par le sort en tenant compte du grand ou du petit nombre."	56 the heritage of each tribe wil be shared out by lot, depending on its larger or smal er numbers.'
57 Voici, par clans, les Lévites recensés: pour Gershôn, le clan Gershonite; pour Qehat, le clanQehatite; pour Merari, le clan Merarite.	57 These, by clans, are the Levites that were registered: for Gershon, the Gershonite clan; for Kohath,the Kohathite clan; for Merari, the Merarite clan.
58 Voici les clans Lévites: le clan Libnite, le clan Hébronite, le clan Mahlite, le clan Mushite, leclan Coréite. Qehat engendra Amram.	58 These are the Levite clans: the Libnite clan, the Hebronite clan, the Mahlite clan, the Mushite clan,the Korahite clan. Kohath fathered Amram.
59 La femme d'Amram se nommait Yokébed, fille de Lévi, qui lui était née en Egypte. Elle donnaà Amram Aaron, Moïse et Miryam leur soeur.	59 Amram's wife was cal ed Jokebed daughter of Levi, born to him in Egypt. To Amram she boreAaron, Moses and Miriam their sister.
60 Aaron engendra Nadab et Abihu, Eléazar et Itamar.	60 Aaron fathered Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
61 Nadab et Abihu moururent lorsqu'ils portèrent devant Yahvé un feu irrégulier.	61 Nadab and Abihu died when they brought unauthorised fire before Yahweh.
62 Il y eut en tout 23.000 mâles recensés, d'un mois et au-dessus. Car ils n'avaient pas été recensésavec les Israélites, n'ayant pas reçu d'héritage au milieu d'eux.	62 Altogether twenty-three thousand males of one month and over were registered. They were notregistered with the Israelites, since they were given no heritage with the Israelites.
63 Tels furent les hommes que recensèrent Moïse et Eléazar le prêtre, qui firent ce recensement desIsraélites dans les Steppes de Moab, près du Jourdain vers Jéricho.	63 Such were the men registered by Moses and the priest Eleazar who took a census of the Israeliteson the Plains of Moab near the Jordan by Jericho.
64 Aucun d'eux n'était de ceux que Moïse et Aaron le prêtre avaient recensés, en dénombrant lesIsraélites dans le désert du Sinaï;	64 Not one of them was among those whom Moses and the priest Aaron had registered when theycounted the Israelites in the desert of Sinai;
65 car Yahvé le leur avait dit: ceux-ci mourraient dans le désert et il n'en resterait aucun, àl'exception de Caleb, fils de Yephunné, et de Josué, fils de Nûn.	65 for Yahweh had told them that these were to die in the desert and that none of them would be leftexcept Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
