| 1 El año noveno, el día diez del décimo mes, la palabra de Yahveh me fue dirigida en estos términos: | 1 In the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me: |
| 2 Hijo de hombre, escribe la fecha de hoy, de este mismo día, porque el rey de Babilonia se ha lanzado sobre Jerusalén precisamente en este día. | 2 "Son of man, write down the name of this day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day. |
| 3 Compón una parábola sobre esta casa de rebeldía. Les dirás: Así dice el Señor Yahveh: Arrima la olla al fuego, arrímala, y echa agua en ella. | 3 And utter an allegory to the rebellious house and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Set on the pot, set it on, pour in water also; |
| 4 Amontana dentro trozos de carne, todos los trozos buenos, pierna y espalda. Llénala de los huesos mejores. | 4 put in it the pieces of flesh, all the good pieces, the thigh and the shoulder; fill it with choice bones. |
| 5 Toma lo mejor del ganado menor. Apila en torno la leña debajo, hazla hervir a borbotones, de modo que hasta los huesos se cuezan. | 5 Take the choicest one of the flock, pile the logs under it; boil its pieces, seethe also its bones in it. |
| 6 Porque así dice el Señor Yahveh: ¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria, olla toda roñosa, cuya herrumbre no se le va! ¡Vacíala trozo a trozo, sin echar suertes sobre ella! | 6 "Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose rust is in it, and whose rust has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, without making any choice. |
| 7 Porque su sangre está en medio de ella, la ha esparcido sobre la roca desnuda, no la ha derramado en la tierra recubriéndola de polvo. | 7 For the blood she has shed is still in the midst of her; she put it on the bare rock, she did not pour it upon the ground to cover it with dust. |
| 8 Para que el furor desborde, para tomar venganza, he puesto yo su sangre sobre roca desnuda, para que no fuera recubierta. | 8 To rouse my wrath, to take vengeance, I have set on the bare rock the blood she has shed, that it may not be covered. |
| 9 Pues bien, así dice el Señor Yahveh: ¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria! También yo voy a hacer un gran montón de leña. | 9 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great. |
| 10 Apila bien la leña, enciende el fuego, cuece la carne a punto, prepara las especias, que los huesos se abrasen. | 10 Heap on the logs, kindle the fire, boil well the flesh, and empty out the broth, and let the bones be burned up. |
| 11 Y mantén la olla vacía sobre las brasas, para que se caliente, se ponga al rojo el bronce, se funda dentro de ella su suciedad, y su herrumbre se consuma. | 11 Then set it empty upon the coals, that it may become hot, and its copper may burn, that its filthiness may be melted in it, its rust consumed. |
| 12 Pero ni por el fuego se va la herrumbre de la que está roñosa. | 12 In vain I have wearied myself; its thick rust does not go out of it by fire. |
| 13 De la impureza de tu inmoralidad he querido purificarte, pero tú no te has dejado purificar de tu impureza. No serás, pues, purificada hasta que yo no desahogue mi furor en ti. | 13 Its rust is your filthy lewdness. Because I would have cleansed you and you were not cleansed from your filthiness, you shall not be cleansed any more till I have satisfied my fury upon you. |
| 14 Yo, Yahveh, he hablado, y cumplo la palabra: no me retraeré, no tendré piedad ni me compadeceré. Según tu conducta y según tus obras te juzgarán, oráculo del Señor Yahveh. | 14 I the LORD have spoken; it shall come to pass, I will do it; I will not go back, I will not spare, I will not repent; according to your ways and your doings I will judge you, says the Lord GOD." |
| 15 La palabra de Yahveh me fue dirigida en estos términos: | 15 Also the word of the LORD came to me: |
| 16 «Hijo de hombre, mira, voy a quitarte de golpe el encanto de tus ojos. Pero tú no te lamentarás, no llorarás, no te saldrá una lágrima. | 16 "Son of man, behold, I am about to take the delight of your eyes away from you at a stroke; yet you shall not mourn or weep nor shall your tears run down. |
| 17 Suspira en silencio, no hagas duelo de muertos; ciñe el turbante a tu cabeza, ponte tus sandalias en los pies, no te cubras la barba, no comas pan ordinario». | 17 Sigh, but not aloud; make no mourning for the dead. Bind on your turban, and put your shoes on your feet; do not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of mourners." |
| 18 Yo hablé al pueblo por la mañana, y por la tarde murió mi mujer; y al día siguiente por la mañana hice como se me había ordenado. | 18 So I spoke to the people in the morning, and at evening my wife died. And on the next morning I did as I was commanded. |
| 19 El pueblo me dijo: «¿No nos explicarás qué significado tiene para nosotros lo que estás haciendo?» | 19 And the people said to me, "Will you not tell us what these things mean for us, that you are acting thus?" |
| 20 Yo les dije: «La palabra de Yahveh me ha sido dirigida en estos términos: | 20 Then I said to them, "The word of the LORD came to me: |
| 21 Di a la casa de Israel: Así dice el Señor Yahveh: He aquí que yo voy a profanar mi santurario, orgullo de vuestra fuerza, encanto de vuestros ojos, pasión de vuestras almas. Vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas que habéis abandonado, caerán a espada. | 21 'Say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the delight of your eyes, and the desire of your soul; and your sons and your daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword. |
| 22 Y vosotros haréis como yo he hecho: no os cubriréis la barba, no comeréis pan ordinario, | 22 And you shall do as I have done; you shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of mourners. |
| 23 seguiréis llevando vuestros adornos en la cabeza y vuestras sandalias en los pies, no os lamentaréis ni lloraréis. Os consumiréis a causa de vuestras culpas y gemiréis los unos con los otros. | 23 Your turbans shall be on your heads and your shoes on your feet; you shall not mourn or weep, but you shall pine away in your iniquities and groan to one another. |
| 24 Ezequiel será para vosotros un símbolo; haréis todo lo que él ha hecho. Y cuando esto suceda, sabréis que yo soy el Señor Yahveh». | 24 Thus shall Ezekiel be to you a sign; according to all that he has done you shall do. When this comes, then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.' |
| 25 Y tú, hijo de hombre, el día en que yo les quite su apoyo, su alegre ornato, el encanto de sus ojos, el anhelo de su alma, sus hijos y sus hijas, | 25 "And you, son of man, on the day when I take from them their stronghold, their joy and glory, the delight of their eyes and their heart's desire, and also their sons and daughters, |
| 26 ese día llegará donde ti el fugitivo que traerá la noticia. | 26 on that day a fugitive will come to you to report to you the news. |
| 27 Aquel día se abrirá tu boca para hablar al fugitivo; hablarás y ya no seguirás mudo; serás un símbolo para ellos, y sabrán que yo soy Yahveh. | 27 On that day your mouth will be opened to the fugitive, and you shall speak and be no longer dumb. So you will be a sign to them; and they will know that I am the LORD." |
