Levítico 19

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Habló Yahveh a Moisés, diciendo:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
2 Habla a toda la comunidad de los israelitas y diles: Sed santos, porque yo, Yahveh, vuestro Dios, soy santo.	2 'Speak to the whole community of Israelites and say: "Be holy, for I, Yahweh your God, am holy.
3 Respete cada uno de vosotros a su madre y a su padre. Guardad mis sábados. Yo, Yahveh, vuestro Dios.	3 "Each of you wil respect father and mother. "And you wil keep my Sabbaths; I am Yahweh your God.
4 No os volváis hacia los ídolos, ni os hagáis dioses de fundición. Yo, Yahveh, vuestro Dios.	4 "Do not turn to idols and do not cast metal gods for yourselves. I am Yahweh your God.
5 Cuando sacrifiquéis a Yahveh un sacrificio de comunión, sacrificadlo de modo que le seáis gratos.	5 "If you offer a communion sacrifice to Yahweh, make it in such a way as to be acceptable.
6 La víctima se ha de comer el mismo día en que la inmoléis, o al día siguiente; y lo que sobre hasta el día tercero, será quemado.	6 It must be eaten the same day or the day after; whatever is left on the third day must be burnt.
7 Si se come algo al tercer día, será un manjar corrompido; el sacrificio no será grato.	7 If eaten on the third day it would be rotten food and not be acceptable.
8 El que lo coma, cargará con su iniquidad, porque ha profanado la Santidad de Yahveh. Esa persona será extirpada de entre su parentela.	8 Anyone who eats it must bear the consequences of this guilt, having profaned Yahweh's holiness; thatperson wil be outlawed from his people.
9 Cuando cosechéis la mies de vuestra tierra, no siegues hasta el borde de tu campo, ni espigues los restos de tu mies.	9 "When you reap the harvest of your land, you wil not reap to the very edges of the field, nor wil yougather the gleanings of the harvest;
10 Tampoco harás rebusco de tu viña, ni recogerás de tu huerto los frutos caídos; los dejarás para el pobre y el forastero. Yo, Yahveh, vuestro Dios.	10 nor wil you strip your vineyard bare, nor pick up the fal en grapes. You will leave them for the poorand the stranger. I am Yahweh your God.
11 No hurtaréis; no mentiréis ni os defraudaréis unos a otros.	11 "You will not steal, nor deal deceitful y or fraudulently with your fel ow-citizen.
12 No juraréis en falso por mi nombre: profanarías el nombre de tu Dios. Yo, Yahveh.	12 You wil not swear by my name with intent to deceive and thus profane the name of your God. I amYahweh.
13 No oprimirás a tu prójimo, ni lo despojarás. No retendrás el salario del jornalero hasta el día siguiente.	13 You wil not exploit or rob your fel ow. You wil not keep back the labourer's wage until next morning.
14 No maldecirás a un mudo, ni pondrás tropiezo ante un ciego, sino que temerás a tu Dios. Yo, Yahveh.	14 You wil not curse the dumb or put an obstacle in the way of the blind, but will fear your God. I amYahweh.
15 Siendo juez no hagas injusticia, ni por favor del pobre, ni por respeto al grande: con justicia juzgarás a tu prójimo.	15 "You will not be unjust in administering justice. You wil neither be partial to the poor nor overawed bythe great, but will administer justice to your fel ow-citizen justly.
16 No andes difamando entre los tuyos; no demandes contra la vida de tu prójimo. Yo, Yahveh.	16 You wil not go about slandering your own family, nor will you put your neighbour's life in jeopardy. Iam Yahweh.
17 No odies en tu corazón a tu hermano, pero corrige a tu prójimo, para que no te cargues con pecado por su causa.	17 You wil not harbour hatred for your brother. You will reprove your fel ow-countryman firmly and thusavoid burdening yourself with a sin.
18 No te vengarás ni guardarás rencor contra los hijos de tu pueblo. Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. Yo, Yahveh.	18 You wil not exact vengeance on, or bear any sort of grudge against, the members of your race, butwil love your neighbour as yourself. I am Yahweh.
19 Guardad mis preceptos. No aparearás ganado tuyo de diversa especie. No siembres tu campo con dos clases distintas de grano. No uses ropa de dos clases de tejido.	19 "You will keep my laws. "You will not mate your cattle with those of another kind; you wil not sow twokinds of grain in your field; you wil not wear a garment made from two kinds of fabric.
20 Si un hombre se acuesta maritalmente con una mujer que es una sierva perteneciente a otro, sin que haya sido rescatada ni liberada, será él castigado, pero no con pena de muerte, pues ella no era libre.	20 "If someone has intercourse with a woman who is the concubine slave of a man from whom she hasnot been redeemed and she has not been given her freedom, he wil be liable for a fine, but they will not incurdeath, since she was not a free woman.
21 El ofrecerá un carnero, su sacrificio de reparación para Yahveh, a la entrada de la Tienda del Encuentro; será un carnero de reparación.	21 He wil bring a sacrifice of reparation for Yahweh to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. This wil be aram of reparation,
22 Con el carnero de reparación, el sacerdote hará expiación por él ante Yahveh por el pecado que cometió, y se le perdonará su pecado.	22 and with the ram of reparation the priest wil perform the rite of expiation for him before Yahweh forthe sin committed; and the sin he has committed wil be forgiven.
23 Cuando entréis en la tierra y plantéis toda clase de árboles frutales, consideraréis impuro su fruto, como incircunciso; por tres años os serán como incircuncisos y no se podrán comer.	23 "Once you have entered the country and planted any kind of fruit tree, you will regard its fruit asuncircumcised. For three years you wil count it as uncircumcised and it wil not be eaten;
24 Al cuarto año todos su frutos serán consagrados en fiesta de alabanza en honor de Yahveh.	24 in the fourth year, al its fruit wil be consecrated to Yahweh in a feast of praise;
25 Y en el quinto año podréis comer de su fruto y almacenar en vuestro provecho su producto. Yo, Yahveh, vuestro Dios.	25 and in the fifth year you may eat its fruit, so that it may yield you even more. I am Yahweh your God.
26 No comáis nada con sangre. No practiquéis encantamiento ni astrología.	26 "You will eat nothing with blood in it. You wil not practise divination or magic.
27 No rapéis en redondo vuestra cabellera, ni cortes los bordes de tu barba.	27 "You will not round off your hair at the edges or trim the edges of your beard.
28 No haréis incisiones en vuestra carne por los muertos; ni os haréis tatuaje. Yo, Yahveh.	28 You wil not gash your bodies when someone dies, and you will not tattoo yourselves. I am Yahweh.
29 No profanarás a tu hija, prostituyéndola; no sea que la tierra se prostituya y se llene de incestos.	29 "Do not profane your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the country itself will become prostitutedand fil ed with incest.
30 Guardad mis sábados y respetad mi santuario. Yo, Yahveh.	30 "You will keep my Sabbaths and revere my sanctuary. I am Yahweh.
31 No os dirijáis a los nigromantes, ni consultéis a los adivinos haciéndoos impuros por su causa. Yo, Yahveh, vuestro Dios.	31 "Do not have recourse to the spirits of the dead or to magicians; they wil defile you. I, Yahweh, amyour God.
32 Ponte en pie ante las canas y honra el rostro del anciano; teme a tu Dios. Yo, Yahveh.	32 "You will stand up in the presence of grey hair, you wil honour the person of the aged and fear yourGod. I am Yahweh.
33 Cuando un forastero resida junto a ti, en vuestra tierra, no le molestéis.	33 "If you have resident aliens in your country, you wil not molest them.
34 Al forastero que reside junto a vosotros, le miraréis como a uno de vuestro pueblo y lo amarás como a ti mismo; pues forasteros fuisteis vosotros en la tierra de Egipto. Yo, Yahveh, vuestro Dios.	34 You wil treat resident aliens as though they were native-born and love them as yourself -- for youyourselves were once aliens in Egypt. I am Yahweh your God.
35 No cometáis injusticia en los juicios, ni en las medidas de longitud, de peso o de capacidad:	35 "You will not be unjust in administering justice as regards measures of length, weight or capacity.
36 tened balanza justa, peso justo, medida justa y sextario justo. Yo soy Yahveh vuestro Dios, que os saqué del país de Egipto.	36 You wil have just scales, just weights, a just ephah and a just hin. I am Yahweh your God whobrought you out of Egypt;
37 Guardad todos mis preceptos y todas mis normas, y ponedlos en práctica. Yo, Yahveh.	37 hence you are to keep al my laws and all my customs and put them into practice. I am Yahweh." '
