Psalms 97

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINDOUAI-RHEIMS
A Psalm of David himself. Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has performed wonders. His right hand has accomplished salvation for him, with his holy arm.1 For the same David, when his land was restored again to him. The Lord hath reigned, let the earth rejoice: let many islands be glad.
The Lord has made known his salvation. He has revealed his justice in the sight of the nations.2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: justice and judgment are the establishment of his throne.
He has remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.3 A fire shall go before him, and shall burn his enemies round about.
Sing joyfully to God, all the earth. Sing and exult, and sing psalms.4 His lightnings have shone forth to the world: the earth saw and trembled.
Sing psalms to the Lord with stringed instruments, with strings and the voice of a psalmist,5 The mountains melted like wax, at the presence of the Lord: at the presence of the Lord of all the earth.
with subtle wind instruments and the voice of woodwinds. Make a joyful noise before the Lord our king.6 The heavens declared his justice: and all people saw his glory.
Let the sea be moved and all its fullness, the whole world and all who dwell in it.7 Let them be all confounded that adore graven things, and that glory in their idols. Adore him, all you his angels:
The rivers will clap their hands, the mountains will exult together,8 Sion heard, and was glad. And the daughters of Juda rejoiced, because of thy judgments, O Lord.
before the presence of the Lord. For he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the whole world with justice, and the peoples with fairness.9 For thou art the most high Lord over all the earth: thou art exalted exceedingly above all gods.
You that love the Lord, hate evil: the Lord preserveth the souls of his saints, he will deliver them out of the hand of the sinner.
Light is risen to the just, and joy to the right of heart.
Rejoice, ye just, in the Lord: and give praise to the remembrance of his holiness.
