NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 Naomi had a kinsman on her husband's side, wel -to-do and of Elimelech's clan. His name was Boaz.	1 Ed era uno uomo potente (e ricco) del parentado di Elimelec, uomo di grande ricchezza, il quale avea nome Booz.
2 Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, 'Let me go into the fields and glean ears of corn in the footsteps ofsome man who will look on me with favour.' She replied, 'Go, daughter.'	2 E disse Rut Moabita alla suocera sua: se ti piace di comandarmi ch' io vada nel campo, io v’andrò e coglierò le spighe, che escono di mano a coloro che mietono; e dovunque troverò la grazia del padre della famiglia, (pietosa e) clemente a me, quivi · anderò. Alla quale disse Noemi: va, figliuola mia.
3 So she set out and went to glean in the fields behind the reapers. Chance led her to a plot of landbelonging to Boaz of Elimelech's clan.	3 Allora (quando la suocera li diede la parola, allora) andò Rut, e coglieva le spighe, le quali rimanevano dietro a coloro che mietevano. E intervenne che quello campo, dov' era ita, sì n'era signore uno uomo il quale avea nome Booz, il quale era (di ceppo e) della cognazione di Elimelec.
4 Boaz, as it happened, had just come from Bethlehem. 'Yahweh be with you!' he said to the reapers.'Yahweh bless you!' they replied.	4 Ed ecco che allora sì tornava di Betleem, e disse ai mietitori; Iddio sia con voi. I quali sì gli respuosono: Iddio sì ti benedica.
5 Boaz said to a servant of his who was in charge of the reapers, 'To whom does this young womanbelong?'	5 E disse Booz a quello giovane, il quale era sopra ai mietitori: chi è questa fanciulla?
6 And the servant in charge of the reapers replied, 'The girl is the Moabitess, the one who came back withNaomi from the Plains of Moab.	6 Il quale si respuose (e disse): questa si è quella Moabite che venne con Noemi della terra de' Moabiti,
7 She said, "Please let me glean and pick up what fal s from the sheaves behind the reapers." Thus shecame, and here she stayed, with hardly a rest from morning until now.'	7 e priegò che potesse ricogliere le spighe (della biada) che rimanessero. Ancora è venuta dietro ai mietitori, e da stamane insino ad ora sì è stata nel campo, e non è punto tornata a casa.
8 Boaz said to Ruth, 'Listen to me, daughter. You must not go gleaning in any other field. You must not goaway from here. Stay close to my work-women.	8 E disse Booz a Rut: odi, figliuola mia, non m'andare a cogliere le spighe in altro campo, e non ti partire di questo luogo; ma accòstati alle mie (servigiali e a queste altre) fanciulle.
9 Keep your eyes on whatever part of the field they are reaping and fol ow behind. I have forbidden mymen to molest you. And if you are thirsty, go to the pitchers and drink what the servants have drawn.'	9 E dove loro avranno mietuto, così le sèguita; però che comandai a questi miei garzoni, che niuno ti faccia molestia alcuna; ma ancora se tu averai sete, va alle barile dell' acqua, e bei, cioè di quella della quale bevono questi fanciulli.
10 Ruth fel on her face, prostrated herself and said, 'How have I attracted your favour, for you to noticeme, who am only a foreigner?'	10 La quale, gittandosi in terra dinanzi alla faccia sua e adorandolo (istando in terra) sì gli disse: perchè questo, ch' io abbia trovato grazia dinanzi agli occhii tuoi, e abbi degnato di conoscermi, conciò sia cosa ch' io sia femina peregrina (e strana)?
11 Boaz replied, 'I have been told al about the way you have behaved to your mother-in-law since yourhusband's death, and how you left your own father and mother and the land where you were born to come to apeople of whom you previously knew nothing.	11 Alla quale disse Booz: emmi istato detto (e approvato, cioè) tutte le cose che tu hae fatte alla suocera tua dopo la morte del marito tuo, e come tu hai abbandonati tutti i tuoi parenti (e il padre e la madre) e la terra nella quale tu nascesti, e se' venuta a quello popolo, il quale non conoscevi innanzi.
12 May Yahweh repay you for what you have done, and may you be richly rewarded by Yahweh, the Godof Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge!'	12 Priego Iddio, che ti renda merito secondo l'operazione tua, e sì ne ricevi piena mercede (e merito) da Dio Signore d' Israel, al quale se' venuta, e sotto le sue ali (e braccia) se' fuggita.
13 She said, 'My lord, I hope you wil always look on me with favour! You have comforted and encouragedme, though I am not even the equal of one of your work-women.'	13 La quale sì disse: io (veggio ch' io) ho trovata grazia negli occhii tuoi, imperò che tu m' hai molto consolata, e sì hai favellato al cuore della tua servigiale; imperò ch' io non son somigliante (e non m' agguaglio) ad una delle serve tue.
14 When it was time to eat, Boaz said to her, 'Come and eat some of this bread and dip your piece in thevinegar.' Ruth sat down beside the reapers and Boaz made a heap of roasted grain for her; she ate til herhunger was satisfied, and she had some left over.	14 E dissele Booz: e quando sarà ora di mangiare, vieni qua e mangia del pane (col tuo companatico), e si intingerai lo pane nello aceto. E sedette a lato de' mietitori; e sì si fece la farinata, e mangiò e fue saziata, e tolse quello ch' era rimaso.
15 When she had got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his work-people, 'Let her glean among thesheaves themselves. Do not molest her.	15 E si levò quindi suso per ricogliere le spighe secondo ch' era usata; e comandò Booz a' garzoni suoi, dicendo loro: ancora se la volesse mietere con esso voi, (priegovi tanto quanto io posso, che voi) non glielo vietate.
16 And be sure you pull a few ears of corn out of the bundles and drop them. Let her glean them, and donot scold her.'	16 E di quello grano che avete in mano, sì ne gittate ad arte e per industria, ed anco (vi prego che) ne lasciate rimanere, acciò che ne ricolga senza vergogna; e non sia alcuno che, quando ne coglie, la corregga (o dica nulla).
17 So she gleaned in the field till evening. Then she beat out what she had gleaned and it came to abouta bushel of barley.	17 E ricolse Rut (grano) insino al vespro nel campo; e quello che avea ricolto, battendolo con una verga (e cavandolo delle spighe) e mondandolo, trovò che avea tanto orzo, ch' era una misura che si chiamava EFI, cioè tre moggia (che sono al nostro modo tre staia).
18 Taking it with her, she went back to the town. Her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. Ruth alsotook out what she had kept after eating al she wanted, and gave that to her.	18 Li quali portando seco, sì tornò alla città, e sì lo mostrò alla suocera sua; e ancora sopra questo, trasse fuori e sì le (disse e) diede di quello che era rimaso del cibo che s'era saturata.
19 Her mother-in-law said, 'Where have you been gleaning today? Where have you been working?Blessed be the man who took notice of you!' Ruth told her mother-in-law in whose field she had been working.'The name of the man with whom I have been working today', she said, 'is Boaz.'	19 E dissele la suocera sua: dove hai oggi ricolto, e fatta questa opera? sia benedetto Iddio, che t' ha avuto misericordia (e pietade). E dissele Rut il luogo dove avea ricolto l'orzo (e dove avea adoperato, e disse il nome del luogo), e il nome dell' uomo, come si chiamava Booz.
20 Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, 'May he be blessed by Yahweh who does not withhold his faithfullove from living or dead! This man', Naomi added, 'is a close relation of ours. He is one of those who have theright of redemption over us.'	20 Alla quale respuose Noemi: benedetto sia egli da Dio Signore, imperciò che quella grazia che fece a' vivi, sì fece a' morti. E poi soggiunse: questo uomo sì è nostro parente.
21 Ruth the Moabitess said to her mother-in-law, 'He also said, "Stay with my work-people until they havefinished my whole harvest." '	21 E disse Rut: ancora questo mi comandò, che tanto tempo (vi andassi e) accostassimi a' suoi mietitori, d' insino a tanto che tutte le biade fossono mietute.
22 Naomi said to Ruth, her daughter-in-law, 'It is better for you, daughter, to go with his work-women thanto go to some other field where you might be il -treated.'	22 Alla quale disse la suocera: meglio è, figliuola mia, che vadi a mietere con le fanciulle sue, acciò che non ti sia contrastato (nè detto male), se tu andassi in altro campo (che fosse d'altra persona).
23 So she stayed with Boaz's work-women, and gleaned until the barley and wheat harvests werefinished. And she went on living with her mother-in-law.	23 E accostossi Rut con le fanciulle di Booz; e tanto mietette con loro, d' insino a tanto che l'orzo e il grano fu messo nelli granai (e riposto).
