NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Naomi had a kinsman on her husband's side, wel -to-do and of Elimelech's clan. His name was Boaz.	1 OR Naomi avea quivi un parente del suo marito Elimelec, uomo possente in facoltà, della nazione di Elimelec; il cui nome era Booz.
2 Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, 'Let me go into the fields and glean ears of corn in the footsteps ofsome man who will look on me with favour.' She replied, 'Go, daughter.'	2 E Rut Moabita disse a Naomi: Deh! lascia che io vada a’ campi, ed io spigolerò dietro a colui, appo il quale avrò trovata grazia. Ed ella le disse: Va’, figliuola mia.
3 So she set out and went to glean in the fields behind the reapers. Chance led her to a plot of landbelonging to Boaz of Elimelech's clan.	3 Rut adunque andò, ed entrò in un campo, e spigolò dietro ai mietitori; e per caso si abbattè nella possessione d’un campo di Booz, il quale era della nazione di Elimelec
4 Boaz, as it happened, had just come from Bethlehem. 'Yahweh be with you!' he said to the reapers.'Yahweh bless you!' they replied.	4 Or ecco, Booz venne di Bet-lehem, e disse a’ mietitori: Il Signore sia con voi. Ed essi gli dissero: Il Signore ti benedica.
5 Boaz said to a servant of his who was in charge of the reapers, 'To whom does this young womanbelong?'	5 Poi Booz disse al suo servitore ordinato sopra i mietitori: Di cui è questa giovane?
6 And the servant in charge of the reapers replied, 'The girl is the Moabitess, the one who came back withNaomi from the Plains of Moab.	6 E il servitore ordinato sopra i mietitori rispose e disse: Costei è una giovane Moabita, la quale è tornata con Naomi dalle contrade di Moab.
7 She said, "Please let me glean and pick up what fal s from the sheaves behind the reapers." Thus shecame, and here she stayed, with hardly a rest from morning until now.'	7 Ed ella ci ha detto: Deh! lasciate che io spigoli, e raccolga delle spighe fra le mannelle, dietro a’ mietitori. E, dopo ch’ella è entrata nel campo, è stata in piè dalla mattina infino ad ora; pur ora è stata un poco in casa.
8 Boaz said to Ruth, 'Listen to me, daughter. You must not go gleaning in any other field. You must not goaway from here. Stay close to my work-women.	8 Allora Booz disse a Rut: Intendi, figliuola mia; non andare a spigolare in altro campo, e anche non partirti di qui; anzi stattene qui presso alle mie fanciulle.
9 Keep your eyes on whatever part of the field they are reaping and fol ow behind. I have forbidden mymen to molest you. And if you are thirsty, go to the pitchers and drink what the servants have drawn.'	9 Abbi gli occhi al campo che si mieterà, e va’ dietro ad esse; non ho io comandato a’ servitori che non ti tocchino? e, se avrai sete, vattene a’ vasi, e bevi di ciò che i servitori avranno attinto.
10 Ruth fel on her face, prostrated herself and said, 'How have I attracted your favour, for you to noticeme, who am only a foreigner?'	10 Allora Rut si gittò in su la sua faccia, e s’inchinò a terra, e disse a Booz: Perchè ho io trovato grazia appo te, che tu mi riconosca, essendo io forestiera?
11 Boaz replied, 'I have been told al about the way you have behaved to your mother-in-law since yourhusband's death, and how you left your own father and mother and the land where you were born to come to apeople of whom you previously knew nothing.	11 E Booz rispose, e le disse: Tutto ciò che tu hai fatto inverso la tua suocera, dopo la morte del tuo marito, mi è stato molto ben rapportato; come tu hai lasciato tuo padre, e tua madre, e il tuo natio paese, e sei venuta ad un popolo, il qual per addietro tu non avevi conosciuto.
12 May Yahweh repay you for what you have done, and may you be richly rewarded by Yahweh, the Godof Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge!'	12 Il Signore ti faccia la retribuzione delle tue opere, e siati il premio renduto appieno dal Signore Iddio d’Israele, sotto alle cui ale tu ti sei venuta a ricoverare.
13 She said, 'My lord, I hope you wil always look on me with favour! You have comforted and encouragedme, though I am not even the equal of one of your work-women.'	13 Ed ella disse: Signor mio, trovi io pur grazia appo te; perciocchè tu mi hai consolata, e hai usate benigne parole inverso la tua servente; benchè io non sia pari ad una delle tue serventi.
14 When it was time to eat, Boaz said to her, 'Come and eat some of this bread and dip your piece in thevinegar.' Ruth sat down beside the reapers and Boaz made a heap of roasted grain for her; she ate til herhunger was satisfied, and she had some left over.	14 Poi, nell’ora del mangiare, Booz le disse: Accostati qua, e mangia del pane, e intigni il tuo boccone nell’aceto. Ella dunque si pose a sedere allato a’ mietitori; e Booz le diè del grano arrostito, ed ella mangiò, e fu saziata, e ne serbò di resto.
15 When she had got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his work-people, 'Let her glean among thesheaves themselves. Do not molest her.	15 Poi si levò per ispigolare. E Booz diede ordine a’ suoi servitori, dicendo: Lasciate ch’ella spigoli eziandio fra le mannelle, e non le fate vergogna.
16 And be sure you pull a few ears of corn out of the bundles and drop them. Let her glean them, and donot scold her.'	16 Lasciatele pure eziandio alquanto de’ covoni; e permettete che lo colga, e non la sgridate
17 So she gleaned in the field till evening. Then she beat out what she had gleaned and it came to abouta bushel of barley.	17 Ella adunque spigolò nel campo fino alla sera, e battè ciò che avea ricolto, e v’ebbe intorno ad un efa di orzo.
18 Taking it with her, she went back to the town. Her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. Ruth alsotook out what she had kept after eating al she wanted, and gave that to her.	18 Ed ella sel caricò addosso, e venne nella città. E la sua suocera vide ciò ch’ella avea ricolto. Rut, oltre a ciò, trasse fuori ciò che avea serbato di resto, dopo che fu sazia, e gliel diede.
19 Her mother-in-law said, 'Where have you been gleaning today? Where have you been working?Blessed be the man who took notice of you!' Ruth told her mother-in-law in whose field she had been working.'The name of the man with whom I have been working today', she said, 'is Boaz.'	19 E la sua suocera le disse: Dove hai oggi spigolato? a dove hai lavorato? benedetto sia colui che t’ha riconosciuta. Ed ella dichiarò alla sua suocera appo cui ella avea lavorato, e disse: Il nome di colui appo il quale oggi ho lavorato, è Booz.
20 Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, 'May he be blessed by Yahweh who does not withhold his faithfullove from living or dead! This man', Naomi added, 'is a close relation of ours. He is one of those who have theright of redemption over us.'	20 E Naomi disse alla sua nuora: Benedetto sia egli appresso al Signore; conciossiachè egli non abbia dismessa inverso i viventi la sua benignità, ch’egli avea usata inverso i morti. Poi Naomi le disse: Costui è nostro prossimo parente; ed è di quelli che hanno per consanguinità la ragion del riscatto delle nostre eredità.
21 Ruth the Moabitess said to her mother-in-law, 'He also said, "Stay with my work-people until they havefinished my whole harvest." '	21 Rut Moabita, oltre a ciò, le disse: Egli mi ha eziandio detto: Stattene presso a’ miei servitori, finchè abbiano finita tutta la mia mietitura.
22 Naomi said to Ruth, her daughter-in-law, 'It is better for you, daughter, to go with his work-women thanto go to some other field where you might be il -treated.'	22 E Naomi disse a Rut, sua nuora: Egli è bene, figliuola mia, che tu vada con le fanciulle di esso, e che altri non ti scontri in altro campo.
23 So she stayed with Boaz's work-women, and gleaned until the barley and wheat harvests werefinished. And she went on living with her mother-in-law.	23 Ella dunque se ne stette presso alle fanciulle di Booz, per ispigolare, finchè la ricolta degli orzi e de’ frumenti fu finita. Poi dimorò con la sua suocera
