Ruth 2

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Naomi had a kinsman on her husband's side, wel -to-do and of Elimelech's clan. His name was Boaz.	1 Noémi avait, du côté de son mari, un parent. C'était un homme de condition qui appartenait au mêmeclan qu'Elimélek, il s'appelait Booz.
2 Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, 'Let me go into the fields and glean ears of corn in the footsteps ofsome man who will look on me with favour.' She replied, 'Go, daughter.'	2 Ruth la Moabite dit à Noémi: "Permets-moi d'aller dans les champs glaner des épis derrière celui auxyeux duquel je trouverai grâce." Elle lui répondit: "Va, ma fille."
3 So she set out and went to glean in the fields behind the reapers. Chance led her to a plot of landbelonging to Boaz of Elimelech's clan.	3 Ruth partit donc et s'en vint glaner dans les champs derrière les moissonneurs. Sa chance la conduisitdans une pièce de terre appartenant à Booz, du clan d'Elimélek.
4 Boaz, as it happened, had just come from Bethlehem. 'Yahweh be with you!' he said to the reapers.'Yahweh bless you!' they replied.	4 Or voici que Booz arrivait de Bethléem: "Que Yahvé soit avec vous!" dit-il aux moissonneurs, et euxrépondirent: "Que Yahvé te bénisse!"
5 Boaz said to a servant of his who was in charge of the reapers, 'To whom does this young womanbelong?'	5 Booz demanda alors à celui de ses serviteurs qui commandait aux moissonneurs: "A qui est cette jeunefemme?"
6 And the servant in charge of the reapers replied, 'The girl is the Moabitess, the one who came back withNaomi from the Plains of Moab.	6 Et le serviteur qui commandait aux moissonneurs répondit: "Cette jeune femme est la Moabite, cellequi est revenue des Champs de Moab avec Noémi.
7 She said, "Please let me glean and pick up what fal s from the sheaves behind the reapers." Thus shecame, and here she stayed, with hardly a rest from morning until now.'	7 Elle a dit: Permets-moi de glaner et de ramasser ce qui tombe des gerbes derrière les moissonneurs.Elle est donc venue et elle est restée; depuis le matin jusqu'à présent elle s'est à peine reposée."
8 Boaz said to Ruth, 'Listen to me, daughter. You must not go gleaning in any other field. You must not goaway from here. Stay close to my work-women.	8 Booz dit à Ruth: "Tu entends, n'est-ce pas ma fille? Ne va pas glaner dans un autre champ, ne t'éloignepas d'ici mais attache-toi à mes servantes.
9 Keep your eyes on whatever part of the field they are reaping and fol ow behind. I have forbidden mymen to molest you. And if you are thirsty, go to the pitchers and drink what the servants have drawn.'	9 Regarde la pièce de terre qu'on moissonne et suis-les. Sache que j'ai interdit aux serviteurs de tefrapper. Si tu as soif, va aux cruches et bois de ce qu'ils auront puisé."
10 Ruth fel on her face, prostrated herself and said, 'How have I attracted your favour, for you to noticeme, who am only a foreigner?'	10 Alors Ruth, tombant la face contre terre, se prosterna et lui dit: "Comment ai-je trouvé grâce à tesyeux pour que tu t'intéresses à moi qui ne suis qu'une étrangère" --
11 Boaz replied, 'I have been told al about the way you have behaved to your mother-in-law since yourhusband's death, and how you left your own father and mother and the land where you were born to come to apeople of whom you previously knew nothing.	11 "C'est qu'on m'a bien rapporté, lui dit Booz, tout ce que tu as fait pour ta belle-mère après la mort deton mari; comment tu as quitté ton père, ta mère et ton pays natal pour te rendre chez un peuple que tu n'avaisjamais connu, ni d'hier ni d'avant-hier.
12 May Yahweh repay you for what you have done, and may you be richly rewarded by Yahweh, the Godof Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge!'	12 Que Yahvé te rende ce que tu as fait et que tu obtiennes pleine récompense de la part de Yahvé, leDieu d'Israël, sous les ailes de qui tu es venue t'abriter!"
13 She said, 'My lord, I hope you wil always look on me with favour! You have comforted and encouragedme, though I am not even the equal of one of your work-women.'	13 Elle dit: "Puissé-je toujours trouver grâce à tes yeux, mon Seigneur! Tu m'as consolée et tu as parléau coeur de ta servante, alors que je ne suis même pas l'égale d'une de tes servantes."
14 When it was time to eat, Boaz said to her, 'Come and eat some of this bread and dip your piece in thevinegar.' Ruth sat down beside the reapers and Boaz made a heap of roasted grain for her; she ate til herhunger was satisfied, and she had some left over.	14 Au moment du repas, Booz dit à Ruth: "Approche-toi, mange de ce pain et trempe ton morceau dansle vinaigre." Elle s'assit donc à côté des moissonneurs et Booz lui fit aussi un tas de grains rôtis. Après qu'elle eutmangé à satiété, elle en eut de reste.
15 When she had got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his work-people, 'Let her glean among thesheaves themselves. Do not molest her.	15 Lorsqu'elle se fut levée pour glaner, Booz donna cet ordre à ses serviteurs: "Laissez-la glaner entre lesgerbes, et vous, ne la molestez pas.
16 And be sure you pull a few ears of corn out of the bundles and drop them. Let her glean them, and donot scold her.'	16 Et même, ayez soin de tirer vous-mêmes quelques épis de vos javelles, vous les laisserez tomber, ellepourra les ramasser et vous ne crierez pas après elle."
17 So she gleaned in the field till evening. Then she beat out what she had gleaned and it came to abouta bushel of barley.	17 Ruth glana dans le champ jusqu'au soir, et lorsqu'elle eut battu ce qu'elle avait ramassé, il y avaitenviron une mesure d'orge.
18 Taking it with her, she went back to the town. Her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. Ruth alsotook out what she had kept after eating al she wanted, and gave that to her.	18 Elle l'emporta, rentra à la ville et sa belle-mère vit ce qu'elle avait glané; elle tira ce qu'elle avait misen réserve après avoir mangé à sa faim et le lui donna.
19 Her mother-in-law said, 'Where have you been gleaning today? Where have you been working?Blessed be the man who took notice of you!' Ruth told her mother-in-law in whose field she had been working.'The name of the man with whom I have been working today', she said, 'is Boaz.'	19 "Où as-tu glané aujourd'hui, lui dit sa belle-mère, où as-tu travaillé? Béni soit celui qui s'est intéresséà toi!" Ruth fit connaître à sa belle-mère chez qui elle avait travaillé; elle dit: "L'homme chez qui j'ai travailléaujourd'hui s'appelle Booz."
20 Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, 'May he be blessed by Yahweh who does not withhold his faithfullove from living or dead! This man', Naomi added, 'is a close relation of ours. He is one of those who have theright of redemption over us.'	20 Noémi dit à sa bru: "Qu'il soit béni de Yahvé qui ne cesse d'exercer sa bienveillance envers lesvivants et les morts!" Et Noémi ajouta: "Cet homme est notre proche parent, il est de ceux qui ont sur nous droitde rachat."
21 Ruth the Moabitess said to her mother-in-law, 'He also said, "Stay with my work-people until they havefinished my whole harvest." '	21 Ruth la Moabite dit à sa belle-mère: "Il m'a dit aussi: Reste avec mes serviteurs jusqu'à ce qu'ils aientachevé toute la moisson."
22 Naomi said to Ruth, her daughter-in-law, 'It is better for you, daughter, to go with his work-women thanto go to some other field where you might be il -treated.'	22 Noémi dit à Ruth, sa bru: "Il est bon, ma fille, que tu ailles avec ses servantes, ainsi on ne temaltraitera pas dans un autre champ."
23 So she stayed with Boaz's work-women, and gleaned until the barley and wheat harvests werefinished. And she went on living with her mother-in-law.	23 Et elle resta parmi les servantes de Booz pour glaner jusqu'à la fin de la moisson des orges et de lamoisson des blés, et elle habitait avec sa belle-mère.
