NEW JERUSALEMNOVA VULGATA
The Lamb then broke the seventh seal, and there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.1 Et cum aperuisset sigillum septimum, factum est silentium in caelo quasimedia hora.
Next I saw seven trumpets being given to the seven angels who stand in the presence of God.2 Et vidi septem angelos, qui stant in conspectu Dei, et datae suntillis septem tubae.
Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. A large quantity of incense wasgiven to him to offer with the prayers of al the saints on the golden altar that stood in front of the throne;3 Et alius angelus venit et stetit ante altare habensturibulum aureum, et data sunt illi incensa multa, ut daret orationibussanctorum omnium super altare aureum, quod est ante thronum.
and so from the angel's hand the smoke of the incense went up in the presence of God and with it theprayers of the saints.4 Et ascendit fumusincensorum de orationibus sanctorum de manu angeli coram Deo.
Then the angel took the censer and fil ed it from the fire of the altar, which he then hurled down onto theearth; immediately there came peals of thunder and flashes of lightning, and the earth shook.5 Et accepitangelus turibulum et implevit illud de igne altaris et misit in terram; et factasunt tonitrua et voces et fulgura et terraemotus.
The seven angels that had the seven trumpets now made ready to sound them.6 Et septem angeli, qui habebant septem tubas, paraverunt se, ut tuba canerent.
The first blew his trumpet and, with that, hail and fire, mixed with blood, were hurled on the earth: a thirdof the earth was burnt up, and a third of al trees, and every blade of grass was burnt.7 Et primus tuba cecinit.
The second angel blew his trumpet, and it was as though a great mountain blazing with fire was hurledinto the sea: a third of the sea turned into blood,8 Et secundus angelus tuba cecinit.
a third of al the living things in the sea were kil ed, and a third of all ships were destroyed.9 et mortua est tertia parscreaturarum, quae in mari sunt, quae habent animas, et tertia pars naviuminteriit.
The third angel blew his trumpet, and a huge star fel from the sky, burning like a ball of fire, and it felon a third of all rivers and on the springs of water;10 Et tertius angelus tuba cecinit.
this was the star called Wormwood, and a third of al water turned to wormwood, so that many peopledied; the water had become so bitter.11 Et nomen stellae dicitur Absinthius.
The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun and a third of the moon and a third of thestars were blasted, so that the light went out of a third of them and the day lost a third of its il umination, andlikewise the night.12 Et quartus angelus tuba cecinit.
In my vision, I heard an eagle, cal ing aloud as it flew high overhead, 'Disaster, disaster, disaster, onal the people on earth at the sound of the other three trumpets which the three angels have yet to blow!'13 Et vidi et audivi unam aquilam volantem per medium caelum dicentem vocemagna: “ Vae, vae, vae habitantibus in terra de ceteris vocibus tubae triumangelorum, qui tuba canituri sunt!”.
